LaMarcus Aldridge tells The Oregonian he will not sign a contract extension with #Blazers this offseason, but plans to do so next summer.

Aldridge said it makes most sense financially to wait because he can sign for more years (5) and make more money ($108 million) next year.

Joe Freeman ‏@BlazerFreeman 1m Aldridge: "I'm happy to stay (in Portland), happy to be here, happy with the direction the team has gone the last year or 2. But ..." (cont)

Aldridge cont: "... I just want to get a 5-year deal. I feel like that’s the best decision on my part."

Joe Freeman ‏@BlazerFreeman 1m LaMarcus Aldridge said he wants to finish his career in Portland. One reason why: "I want to be the best Blazer. Ever."

If this is just him trying to say the rich things then it is a bad idea. I wouldn't be preaching wanting to be he best blazer unless you really do plan on re signing here...

But, what if he's just trying to bait us into not trading him, because he's afraid that we'll stay good if we do, and he'd rather cripple us by leaving for nothing, giving his new team in Dallas one fewer contender to worry about?

So this means bye-bye Wes next summer probably, Barton+CJ better show a hell of a lot because that spot will open up.

Good to hear this news though!

Wow what a boost to Lillards image...that's all I can think about if that scenario were to play out. LA would definitely take a step back from the spotlight, or he would be in it as a villain.

And then he injures Lillard on purpose.

And then he injures Lillard on purpose.

He handed copies of the playbook to the spurs this year because he couldn't risk what a championship would do to the expectations of him re-signing.

He totally reads this forum. Great to hear this. He will become the best Blazer ever.

So it's not to win a championship for Portland?

Selfish thing to say imo

To be the greatest Blazer ever would mean surpassing Bill Walton. They only way he could surpass Bill Walton is to win a championship.

No way those guys read the forum. Some of the stuff said about players around here would make them angry as Hell all the time.

He's going to do what his idol Duncan did and for all the right reasons. I never understood how any fan who's listened to him or the front office for the last two years didn't realize this was what he wanted. Blazers are better for it and I'm happy to hear it reaffirmed

Oh boo hoo Aldridge naysayers. You guys were wrong all along

You just keep on believing that. He's playing you, Mags. Playing you like a fiddle. Your just to busy enjoying him fingering you to realize it.

Wait, that didn't come out right...
