Blah blah blah......insert Mexican jokes here.

Now, my next door neighbor had to cut down 3 trees because they were slowly dying. Because of this, our super private, serene, peaceful, secluded back yard NOW HAS A GOD DAMN HOLE IN IT and we can see all our neighbors houses!!!! Literally took away 50% of our privacy. Our wall of green is gone. The HCP is HEATED!

These were 50+ foot trees I'm talking about.

Help me get back my tranquil space. Obviously we don't want to plant trees and wait 40 years. Thinking bamboo and something called Horsetail was recommended to us.

Would love any experts advice.

Don't do bamboo. That shit will take over, kill everything else, and your neighbors will hate you.

If you are willing to pay $$$, and the yard is accessible, you can have fairly large trees installed.

Thank goodness...thought you were having trouble shaving

Ditto on that. I'm no expert, but my wife is an avid gardener and she always talks about the negatives of bamboo as a very evasive plant.

Bamboo = bad

Can't you just build a fence?

Sounds like he wants something taller than a fence. But, you can build a pretty big fence.

You can always do arborvitae. They grow pretty tall. They have to be maintained or they will break.

100% right. When we lived in Portland our neighbor put some Bamboo - within a year it was full time job to keep that shit out of our yard.

Plant bamboo. But, plant the bamboo in extra large planter pots. These planter pots can even be buried, but will contain the roots of the bamboo and keep from taking over everything else.

Why can't you be like Trump and have a wall built and have your neighbor pay for it?

...those pots better be made out of cast iron.

Bamboo is fine, just make sure to plant it in these.

This is what a few friends have told me about.

Don't believe the clumping bamboo story. It just takes over a little more slowly. Which is still faster than you'll want to deal with, assuming you don't have a terminal disease.

I quoted you a price for large trees, $$$. But prices may have gone up, some may be $$$$ now.

Something like this is what we might end up doing. Just want to make sure even the non wandering bamboo would stay put in.

And this is the Horsetail we are interested in. Just curious if anybody here has planted and used NON wondering bamboo

looks like HCP is gearing up the house to sell to some Californians so he can move back to Tualatin!

Why not park a chevy astro van where the plants were or the wifey can hang a laundry line for your hanes plain white T-shirts and underwear?
