Something like this is what we might end up doing. Just want to make sure even the non wandering bamboo would stay put in.

But I have heard the bamboo that is in clumps and is non wondering. Shit, you know how much large trees are bro?
I had a problem with a neighbor's ugly back yard that abutted ours. I planted some Concord grapes. During the summer they completely obliterated the view of our neighbors yard and provided some of the best Concord grapes I've ever had. They remained for about 30 years until one day after a dispute over the property line, the grapes were clearly inside my property and outside the disputed area, he kept complaining that I needed to cut my grape vines off his fence. One day while we were gone from our home he cut our grape bush down to the level of the dirt. SOB, my neighbor was a retired Army ranger. I had to physically retrain him from breaking a lot of that guy's bones.Blah blah blah......insert Mexican jokes here.
Now, my next door neighbor had to cut down 3 trees because they were slowly dying. Because of this, our super private, serene, peaceful, secluded back yard NOW HAS A GOD DAMN HOLE IN IT and we can see all our neighbors houses!!!! Literally took away 50% of our privacy. Our wall of green is gone. The HCP is HEATED!
These were 50+ foot trees I'm talking about.
Help me get back my tranquil space. Obviously we don't want to plant trees and wait 40 years. Thinking bamboo and something called Horsetail was recommended to us.
Would love any experts advice.

Well, who doesn't like sunbathing in the nude. And when you're buff like me you remove your fence.TIL HCP likes to sunbathe nude.
If you get a permit, you can build an 8 foot fence. Make it a chain link fence with privacy slats. No maintenance. Grow something on your fence. You can grow beans, tomatoes, grapes, Morning Glory, Honeysuckle or a host of other vines.I have a very nice fence. But we can still see the neighbors houses. 12 years of complete privacy and then now this. It's brutal.
Bamboo is fine, just make sure to plant it in these.

And this is the Horsetail we are interested in. Just curious if anybody here has planted and used NON wondering bamboo

Prance around with your shirt off, I'm sure your neighbor will quickly plant new trees

Might plant a couple quacking aspen trees in the meantime to provide at least a little privacy.
Spit when you say that.Duck fan?
Thanks man. May bug you with more questions. We did the bamboo thing. It works if you buy the right type / size and plant in a container or with a liner. We dug down about 3 feet. lined the ditch with a thick liner, added dirt and bamboo. 7 years now. No problem. Total privacy.
But note, bamboos are very different, grow at different rates and size, and can be expensive. There is a bamboo guy on Scholls - way out almost to Roy Rogers rd. They really know their stuff, but it's pricy.

You are looking at this the wrong way. You should be happy about this, now there won't be as long of a line for Mrs HCP. More time for you.
My next door neighbor was Invaded by Bamboo. He told me it is relentless and survives anything. The only problem is control. When they are growing, they present foot impalement for pets, children. and inebriated humans. You will have to dig a perimeter trench. It's worth a Utube look because they stay.Blah blah blah......insert Mexican jokes here.

Are you saying that children are not human? A little harsh, don't cha think? My next door neighbor was Invaded by Bamboo. He told me it is relentless and survives anything. He's not looking to put up shiplap.
Have you seen an inebriated child? I thought the noun "human" would create some sparkle to the sentence..Are you saying that children are not human? A little harsh, don't cha think?
My brother in law has an exotic tree & shrub nursery in Sandy and he told me he sold over a million dollars in bamboo last year. I couldn't believe it. He himself won't have it his house because of the mess but there is definitely market for it.We did the bamboo thing. Had my first drunk experience when I was about 14. Went camping with a man my mom knew. Seemed like a nice guy but the trip really was for his nephew's 16th birthday party. He and I got drunk for the first time. My mom was royally pissed when she somehow found out. Maybe it was when I staggered in the front door on the way home from my camping trip. Never drank again until just before I turned 18. After that it was kitty bar the door. Now, according to my doctors I should drink very very little alcohol. Live sucks and then you die.Not only seen but been one.
