Lanny got some very sad news today from his doctors. They're saying 2-4 weeks. They want to send him to a care facility but he just wants to go home and I don't blame him.

I really don't know what to say.

OMG! I really, really wish I could've/would've figured out a way to visit him while I was out there earlier this month.

If the doctors are convinced that it is really a 2-4 week situation, I wonder why don’t they suggest the surgery? Obviously there is the risk of complications which made them feel like the surgery wasn’t worth while.

I have like 0 medical education. Just curious.

Because of dialysis, he has a lot of calcification in his arteries. Replacing the heart valve won't eliminate that. He's also blacking out from a lack of O2, so anesthesia would very dangerous.

Please pass on the love from his fellow-Blazer fans. Sad loss for the board and all who knew him.

This is heartbreaking. If the doctors are in fact correct, is there any way the forum can do something for Mrs. Lanny?

I celebrate Lanny today while he lives, tomorrow while he lives and hope each day from here on his journey is filled with joy and love...Lanny you are a good man...that's all a person could ask for...a loving family and a good life....you'll be missed but your posts here will live on ...may you never thirst and my heart goes out to you and your lovely wife today. So sorry to hear this news but let's make you laugh a couple times on the way eh? Aloha my friend!

Shit. I hope they let him go home and just have a caregiver there for him. That's what my dad wanted and he got his wish.

@HomerLovesKoolAid and I are trying to figure that out. Did you go through the hospital? Insurance? County?

Good idea. If you have any suggestions let me know.

Any chance the blazers can do something for the life long season ticket holder?

I just reached out to the Blazers.

What a great idea...maybe contact the front office? Get him a brass memorial plaque on a good seat in his section. We do that at our local library for volunteers who pass away..give them a plaque on a shelf.

I know his name is on the wall of the Moda as an original season ticket holder. Not sure if it stays there if he no longer has tickets.

No we didn't go through anything. I don't think he had the complications that Lanny has though. He had a blockage in an artery and they felt it was too risky for surgery, but they didn't give a timeline for end of life. He had been in a nursing home for a couple of weeks and insisted on going home. We brought him home and he died a few months later.
