Another thing I loved about Lanny was that he had the propensity to one-up me (and others) on food selections and prep techniques. He was an "old school" foodie, though. He didn't mess with all those complicated and/or high falutin' concoctions. He kept things simple. I've actually tried more than a few of his ideas. He never disappointed in that regard.

I'm embarrassed to say I've read this entire thread and have very little to add. However, he and I have crossed forum paths for a couple of decades and in all my interactions with him, even when we disagreed, we never had a disagreeable word. And given what a jackhole I can be on these boards, that speaks volumes about his character. Fare thee well, old forum friend. We have lost one of the greats.

Just seeing this, heartbreaking. I only met Lanny once in person, a quick meet up at the Rose Garden before the Blazers vs Kings game when Simons went off his rookie year. Rest in Peace.
