This was a very good trade for the Blazers..we got better without getting rid of a rotation player

I think there's pretty much a consensus that it's a good move, but not enough to make us a contender.

I mean, can anyone disagree with that?
I think in ideal world, we would move CJ for that 2nd star next to Dame. But that just isn't happening. And, we've beaten those talks to death, there's not a ton of reason for other teams to make those moves.
But I still think any roster with Dame leading the way could be a contender. Not in a clear cut favorites out of the gate sort of way, but as has been discussed on here a bunch, in the way that Dirk got his ring. Dallas never found that 2nd star, they kept on shuffling pieces around the edges until they found just the right mix. You throw in a hot streak and some luck and there you go.
Again, I want the HR, but shuffling the right pieces(as well as a new coach!) could still do the trick, IMO. I'm probably naive in that thinking, but feels like if we're not improving #2 on the roster, getting more out of 3-8 can still get us over the top.

Perfect point. Look what Nate did in Atlanta this year.

I like the trade. Still wuold like to upgrade the backup PG spot, and a better big to backup Nurk. But maybe this is what Damian wanted. Maybe he didn't want Simmons or Siakam. who knows.

Well, clearly Damian knows.

I think Nance will be Nurks primary backup with Zeller as third string center who plays against bigger teams. I agree about backup PG. We need one bad, I don’t wanna see Ant or CJ running the second unit anymore.

This is how I see our depth chart currently

PG
1. Dame
2. CJ
3. Ant

SG
1. CJ
2. Norm
3. McLemore

SF
1. Norm
2. Nas
3. Snell

PF
1. Roco
2. Nance
3. Nas

C
1. Nurkic
2. Nance
3. Zeller

Deep bench: Brown, Elleby

Two way: Watford

We still need to sign one more player, and also have a two way open.
I think zellars will be backing up Nurk.

This trade is fantastic in the context of it being such a beautiful example of the best Olshey can seem to do. It's such an Olshey trade that everyone in this place had talked about doing it. It improves our bench or more importantly gives us a bench player that can give us starters minutes in our rotation but it is just one of those sneaky upgrade moves Olshey likes to make that really doesn't have any risk and gives him another year where he can sit out the draft so he doesn't have to have Zach Collins nightmares all Spring.

So, he did something that improved our team, which is great but it hardly answered Dame's call for urgency as far as making us a contender.

I actually overheard Billups on the phone last night but only heard a word here and there. I did hear him mention Brown and DJ but not in any context. Later, I asked if they were gonna make any more moves this summer and he said "we'll see.". Super nice guy, very easy to chat up and his wife was very friendly also.

This means CJ is staying and we're not going after Simmons.
Unless the trade is CJ and RoCo for Simmons and good old Anthony Tolliver straight up... that's a fantastic deal for the Sixers and leaves us with Dame, Norm, Simmons, Nance, Nurk, Ant, Nas, Snell and Zeller as our rotation... obviously a drop off when we go to the bench but there could even be moves made after that.

We are going to sign Kwame Brown to be our backup big? Yes!!!! We are gonna get a former #1 pick!
