Trade Larry Nance Jr traded to Portland

Just checked who Nance's agent was... our old friend Mark Bartelstein. Lost Zach, now we have another one of his guys.

This last paragraph is a bit of a downer.
As for the first-rounder Portland gave up, there's good news and bad news in terms of it being lottery-protected through 2028, the last possible year teams can trade picks at this point. The positive is the Blazers have protected themselves from ever giving up a lottery pick, which is crucial as they consider the possibility of moving on from Lillard at some point in the future and beginning a rebuilding process.

The downside is if Portland can't guarantee another team a first-round pick in a deal until this one conveys, which means this is probably it for the Blazers in terms of adding via trade unless it's absolutely certain they're going to make the playoffs -- something that's less likely to happen with the advent of the play-in tournament.

I think Nance will be Nurks primary backup with Zeller as third string center who plays against bigger teams. I agree about backup PG. .

Maybe to end games. I am surprised to see him listed at 245 lbs. Still, I prefer him as a 4 for most of the game.
I think a lot of fans are sleeping on Zeller. He brings it every night. He will be the backup center....unless injured.

For all of those who were pissed when Djj opted in, or when Neil gave him 10 million.....this trade is why. You have to have some assets in that price range to make moves. Finally, someone big and mobile enough that can at least attempt to guard AD and LBJ.

wouldn't this make more sense posted in the OT were so high thread?

Also I've had a really shitty day so nothing was gonna make me happy unless cj was traded.

Not impressed. Not good enough. Do better olshey.

I like the trade but you might have a point. Does this trade really move the needle enough? Maybe Neil will be looking to move CJ at the deadline?

We got rid of our worst 3 defensive problems,
Stotts, Kanter, Melo

We have received 2 great defensive solutions,
Billups, Nance

Love the trade. We're going to be a lot better defensively next year!

incrementally, this makes us a better team and we turned a guy who wasn't in the rotation for someone who will, while being more versatile and on a terrific contract. Given the pieces we had to trade, this was a good move.

But if we're judging Olshey's offseason on his ability to turn CJ into a star forward, I think we're gonna be sorely disappointed despite whatever else he does along the margins.
This is probably the best off-season we could've hoped for without trading C.J.
- Billups is gonna be great, in my opinion
- Norm re-signed on a really good contract
- Nance is a great get. He's a better version of Aaron Gordon
- Zeller is a steal on a minimum contract
- Greg Brown is looking like a steal at 43

I think we're a top 4 seed next season.

this and we still have 2 empty roster spots...I'm diggin this offseason so far..

Maybe Olshey has larger nards than many of you think! What if he pulls a block buster involving Dame? I hope that doesn't happen but if he knows its going to be hard, to put Dame in a positions to contend, maybe he sends him East for another Super Star where he may contend and that buys him a few more years? What if Philly through in one of their youngster guards along with Simmons? What if Miami wanted Dame bad enough to trade Butler, and Butler was cool with it? Is Neil capable of such, heresy?
