He's a poison pill contract... it'd take a lot.

That's why NO gets paid the big bucks, get it done.

...is supposed to be very available (according to Chad Ford, so take that as you want). We better be making an offer. Right now he looks like crap but I have a feeling he'd look a lot better on a better team, and we could also take Ilyasova off their hands if that's what it took.

LOL

$44m/4 years starting next season. He's the classic example of a head case who got his shit together in a contract year to get an extension.

Read the SI article on him that was written prior to his meltdown this year. Dude has serious issues, and a ton of guaranteed money isn't going to make those go away.

You could do Wright/Williams/Leonard/Claver for Sanders/Ridnour. I don't think they take that. If you use CJ instead of Leonard, it still works money-wise.

He's not in the game for offense. IIRC (and I don't quite remember, so I could be way off) I thought he had some of the best defensive 1-on-1 stats in the league. I don't know that he'll ever shoot 50% again unless he buys some moves from someone, but he's a walking double-double that plays some of the best D in the league.

He did last year. I wouldn't pay $11m/per for the next for years for a guy that had one solid season on one end of the court.

He's a 56% FT shooter, too, so you can't even play him at the end of close games.

And yeah, he probably won't perform to his contract. But would you pay him 7M/yr? 8? I think the market shows that outstanding defensive/rebounding bigs make way more than MLE. Even RoLo coming off his "soft" season and a 5ppg/3rpg in 14 minutes line got a contract at about the MLE.

Even during his "great" season last year, Sanders only got 27 mpg for a bad team.

The Bucks would probably love to get rid of this headcase and his contract. If Paul Allen agrees to take on the contract, maybe you do it if you can get him for next to nothing?

Paul Allen just won a Super Bowl, and probably wants to win an NBA Championship too. Larry Sanders is probably the best player they could actually get if they thought he could return to form. Chemistry is supposed to be so great, so surely they could support one knucklehead.

Sanders and Ilyasova for everyone not in the top 8 (Robinson, Barton, Leonard, Claver, Watson, Wright. Crabbe) works.

Our new lineup:
Lillard/Mo
Wesley/CJ
Batum/Ilyasova
Aldridge/Freeland
Lopez/Sanders

Funny thing is, he's not really an outstanding rebounder for a big. He's only had one year with a per/36 over 10, and that was last year.

He has a career TRB% of 15.8, and is at 14.7 this year. For comparison, LMA has a career TRB% of 13.8, yet he's at 17.1 this year.

I don't know how we would put something together with his PPP.

Maybe we can bring Sherman in as a rim protector. :)

So a guy that rebounds better than LMA (over the course of his career) in limited minutes, and who plays stud defense, wouldn't be a decent pickup in a fire sale?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not sending out a starter or draft pick for him, but a trade similar to the one above? I think it would help the team a lot. Having Ridnour at backup PG and a big man rotation of LMA/Lopez/Freeland/Sanders? That's pretty sweet.

How does that work for the future? Sanders makes $11m for the next 4 years after this season, and Ilyasova makes $8/m per for the next 3 years. That's $19m tied up, and that's without LMA's or Lillard's upcoming max extensions.

Sanders' DWS aren't great, either, and his WS/48 is awful.

At $6-$7m per over a few years, sure, you can bring him onboard, maybe, knowing he's a headcase who is prone to making bad decisions on and off the court.

Whoever they pick up will be someone that fits into this culture. I know it's been mentioned a couple of times in here but a deal that would make sense (Although if this losing continues, I'm not sure it does) is a deal that brings Tyson Chandler to Portland.

BTW. Sanders doesn't fit. Don't expect it to happen.

Here is a simple concept maybe Larry Sanders is just not trying because he does not want to play hard for a team actively trying to be the nba's worst.

Put him in Portland and the thick of a playoff race and I bet you see the same guy as last year return.

That's why you don't pay Larry Sanders $11m/year. Sad thing is he's not even on that contract yet.
