Larry Sanders

That's why you don't pay Larry Sanders $11m/year. Sad thing is he's not even on that contract yet.

Maybe or maybe this is why you do not actively tank as a franchise because people check out mentally and emotionally on your team.

Maybe it's a red flag that he has justified to himself to check out mentally.

It's his job to be professional and to represent the franchise in a positive way. They took care of him. Why not feel the need to take care of the franchise take took care of you and your momma.

Are you saying that the other players on the Bucks are trying to lose, so the team can bring in other players to replace them? I highly doubt that is the case.

If Sanders has quit on the Bucks, that means he's also quit on his teammates (after he got paid, of course), which would make him a shitty teammate.

Yeah, that's why he's available on trade.
He gives us tremendous options in the front-line, makes us much stronger to deal with.

So he quits on the team that gave him a huge contract after his only good season, and suddenly he's an $11m player? I'd rather have Ropez playing center next to LMA than Sanders. :dunno:

Something seems fishy in Milwaukee they have enough talent compete for a playoff spot in the east yet they are soundly the leagues worst team. Are the players trying to lose I am not sure, most likely I think the are being placed into situations where they are less likely to succeed thus guaranteeing a high lotto pick.

Has sanders quit on his team? maybe but I believe the team quit on him first. Contract extension is a seperate matter from tanking. The point being I think Sanders needs a change of scenery and his game would be a good fit assuming he wants to be here.

Sanders didn't play most of the year, he got back in the lineup with the team last in the league and everyone playing for a draft pick

Since Sanders came back, they've won 1 game out of 17. He wasn't playing earlier because he got into a bar fight and broke his hand punching someone.

Regardless, does that mean he doesn't have to play hard? If the team is tanking, why would they want to move Sanders, who is having a terrible year? I mean, if he's that good, wouldn't you want to keep him as a building block? Or, if you trade him, don't you want to at least get some #1 picks, instead of the scrubs I've seen mentioned in this thread?

The guy is a headcase and a cancer, and his contract is terrible. The upside for other teams is that the Bucks must be desperate to move him. The downside is that he's a quitter on a ridiculous contract.

I fully believe the Bucks want to get a first for Sanders if they are going to consider dealing him. I certainly do not believe they will deal him for a group of scrubs buried on our terrible bench.

Well, Milwaukee beat New York... if we lose to New York, it'll easily be the worst loss of the year.

Dude would seriously bolster our defense. Shot blocking is his specialty and it's exactly what this team needs, a true paint protector.

He's not a paint protector. He blocks shots from the weak side, and is only averaging 2 bpg without doing anything else well.

He would give us a 3rd great interior defender, we'll be able to play either Sanders or Lopez at all times, occasionaly even play one of them with Freeland.

$11m/year is a lot to pay a 3rd interior defender who can't shoot, admits himself he has anger issues, and punches people in the face at bars just after signing a huge contract extension.

NBA leaders in technical fouls this year.

Sanders is 'only' tied for 16th, but look at the amount of games played.

http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/player/_/stat/fouls/sort/technicalFouls

He's also 6th in the league in Flagrant Fouls, and has been ejected from a game, tying him for 2nd with 31 other players.

He's a hockey goon who will be making $11m/year for the next 4 years.

Ukraine fan I already said a trade of Sanders and ilyasova for everyone but the starters, Mo, Freeland and CJ works cap wise.

sorry I missed that; i was trying to catch up since I watch the games on delay.

This is the sorta guy we need to target. A young, defensive big man who has lost value. This guy was on par with Ibaka/Gasol/Chandler in his defense. If we could somehow make it work, I would do it.

Exactly take a gamble on someone like this kid.

Here's another one for you:

Basics: We get Sanders and Ridnour (to replace Mo)
Indiana gets Mo, Caron Butler and OJ Mayo
Bucks get our young guys and the expiring contract of Danny Granger (who is just depressing Indiana fans right now)

Major hurdle: Indiana have to cooperate and take on either OJ Mayo or Ilyasova, both of whom have nasty contracts but either of which could be seen to provide the last cog in a Heat-killing machine. But remember who works for Indiana now, who might not have much invested in helping the Blazers...

I wonder if the Bucks would insist on getting CJ in any trade (that doesn't involve a Blazer starter). If so, I think I'd still do it, but it would be a little bit wrenching.

Look at how many "troubled" guys have helped teams win championships. Having one player like Sanders wouldn't hurt this team one bit. Championship teams have long histories of bringing "troubled" guys in and rehabilitating them. Ever since the jail blazers era the team has been so scared of a repeat that they can't make a move to put themselves over the top. The Heat brought in Birdman and he was a huge part of their playoff run last year. He was a much bigger cancer risk in comparison to Sanders considering Andersons drug history and allegations of kiddie porn having. Jason Kidd was a key piece of the 10-11 Mavs team and he is a wife beater and multiple DUIer. The Lakers had Metta World Peace on their squad for their championship run and he is one of the craziest guys the league has ever seen. If we are really so confident that the chemistry of this team is special than it should be no problem absorbing a guy like Sanders into the nucleus. At least Dame could teach him that his posse is the one to administer the beatings when they're out on the town.

Very true. Some guy named Rodman won a few titles while with Chicago as well and had a good run with SAS for a short bit.

Usually the "troubled guy" isn't making $11m/year.

He's worth it. His interior defense is excellent.

Milwaukee apparently doesn't think he's worth it. Does he take minutes from Ropez? Or, does he get paid $11m to play Freeland's minutes?

This isn't fantasy basketball.

I'd say he takes Robin's role (29 minutes) while Robin takes Joel's (19 minutes) and Joel takes Robinson's (11 minutes).
