True story, I went to a Charlie Chaplin film festival on the UC Davis campus and there was a concert after the films with some famous rock band...this was maybe 1976..the drummer ended his big solo...threw his drumsticks into the audience and beaned some college girl right in the third eye...the crowd went from cheering to....oh shit silence....fitting for a silent movie fest

What's with all the personal arguments and sensitive reactions lately.

Someone indirectly calls Stevenson a liar, then immediately after he decides to go make a THREAD announcing he's taking a break from the forum. Really? None of us are that important for a home page thread on the Blazers Official Forum just to announce that we're "taking a break" or "leaving" (applies to you too @KingAlbertoJrSpeed)

Really makes this place look bad when this is all we can do in the offseason...

I've been a member almost a year now and spent a fair amount of lurking before signing up. Last year at this time I recall this being pretty much an intellectual wasteland with Portland's season over and the draft and free agency still to come. Based on the amount of hurt feelings and cranky sniping at each other I saw at that time, I came close to walking away without becoming a part of the forum. But as soon as the draft and free agency became more tangible, the whole attitude (and behavior) of the board started to change. Moods improved, folks became more civil and discussions/arguments became a great deal more reasonable and respectful. Face it, in general we're bored shitless right now. Endless trade and draft scenarios that will likely never happen, salary projections, etc get old. We want meat on the bone. We want actual trades and player signings. We want facts, not pipe dreams. We want to hear new and fresh information, not the same old regurgitated tripe. It makes us assholes with each other. This is a great time to take a break if someone needs one. So.....clear your head Stevenson. Enjoy some time away from this place. But I for one hope to see you back before next season tips off. You bring good stuff to the table.....

I just now read that the Blue Ridge is currently the oldest operating ship in the US Navy. Now THAT'S crazy......she was the sea going version of a brand spanking new, fully loaded Cadillac when Riverman and I were on her. Time flies......

I just read she was in Hong Kong when the Chinese blocked the port. I spent months watching the sunset and Dolphins leaping after flying fish on the fantail of that ship...man she does look old now. Was sparkling new when I first got on board.

My great-grandfather was on one of those liberty ships that transported cargo and troops in WW2. My mom kept his journal and he talked about how the Aussies were 40 years behind the times and how people in Brisbane were a bunch of thieves, lol.
