It still boils down to what you want to do with the machine. Gaming technology is obsolete in 4-5 years anyway, so having a computer that lasts 8 years is a pretty moot point if that's what you're going for. I have a shitty Dell Computer that still works and I bought it in 2008

Have you ever had an AMD card? I'm looking at the GTX 900 series when it comes out to upgrade from my 560 TI, but Nvidia is so much more expensive. The R9 280x looks nice, but i want to have it for like 4 years, and i don't know if that one is going to last that long.

I think if Microsoft would actually listen to their customers then things would be much better. They seem to want to be cool, which is hardly the case. People that use windows treat windows like a tool, not a lifestyle. They should leave that to apple and focus on being a cheap functioning OS for business.

While I mostly agree with this, I would argue that people that use Apple products as a lifestyle - did not have one to begin with either...

If you need a brand-name product to be "stylish" - well...
