Leonards BIG bet

Olshey is the same guy that made Spencer Hawes his number one target. I believe it. Dodged the bullet twice now. I like you Neil but please stay away from "stretch" 5s that can't rebound or play defense.

At least with Leonard it's mental so there's still the possibility he turns it around. Hawes is just a scrub

$15m/per for MyLo would've been an absolute anchor.

Neil makes me nervous.

Especially with all this unused cap space.

The announcers for the Pels are Joel Meyers David Wesley Sean Kelley Joel Meyers is a national guy for espn maybe he's heard something idk but they were talking like it was common knowledge around the league I wouldnt be surprised if NO kept the numbers quiet locally Agents and GM's talk and gossip like anyone else
Oh ESPN you say? That gives him all the credibility in the world! I wonder if he heard it from Broussards multiple sources.

I'm skeptical of this. No way, no how.

You seriously believe Meyers turned down $15 million a year? What so he can make 17? Doesn't pass the smell test whatsoever.

Im streaming the game online and the Pelicans announcers just said Meyers turned down 4 for 60

SIXTY MILLION DOLLARS he turned down from the blazers he will be lucky to get half of that now, and may be playing himself OUT of the NBA.

We all need to take a moment to thank our lucky stars we are not stuck with that albatross of a contract

If it's true I'd consider trading him. If he plans on testing the FA market rather than re-signing for this amount it might mean he wants out. I'd welcome the Leonard for Olynyk trade suggested in another thread if this is true.

Yeah I do. I remember hearing it was a "substantial" offer.

seems too crazy to be true right? but I havent seen or heard any actual numbers on the deal he turned down other than it was "substantial" but these guys were talking about it all matter of fact-ly

I watched the Pelican broadcast and the play-by-play guy said it. His colorman was surprised; like everyone else, it was the first time he'd heard it.

But all that's ever been reported was the word "substantial," just as you say. So like everyone else, I'm skeptical. In fact, I was skeptical that Olshey really wanted back the players lost this summer, from Aldridge on down. I think Olshey wanted to rebuild the team from scratch from the moment he became GM. I think any offer to Leonard was faintly communicated just to go by the book and make a pro-forma offer, which is why Leonard and so many other players didn't accept Olshey's half-hearted "offers."

Meyers is such fucking dogshit. Trade him for a bag of chips please. So sick of seeing his clumsy ass falling over and constantly in terrible position for any kind of basketball play.

The guy doesn't have it, plain and simple.

I really wish I could remember who it was that was stridently arguing with me back in September about How N.O. needed to offer Leonar_ the max, because (paraphrasing) "some team for sure was going to offer him that much this summer and he's going to be a star." Ah, good memories. Good times.

Sure a lot of Leonard hate in here. I would sure hate to live with that load.

It just makes me sick thinking of what this guy could be. When I was a teen playing with my 10 year old brother and his friends on an 8 foot hoop I'd dunk on them like I was Shaq.

If I could do that in an NBA game I'd laugh at you for wanting me to practice shooting 3s.

Meyers used to be the Lakers play by play guy for a long time. This is like his 4th season in New Orleans. I wouldn't really consider him a "National Guy". Plus he doesn't know anything about Meyers' contract situation more than anybody on here.

he also offer big bucks to Enes Kanter

I meant literally, what is the max contract he can receive? If he supposedly turned that down, how much more could he possibly hope for?

Highly doubt Olshey would have offered him that much cash. He's unproven.

I can't believe so many people take this rumor as gospel. This would be like Mike & Mike having insider knowledge of what some other team's RFA was offered. But I'm guessing the NOP announcers might be even dumber than M&M?

No way that this is true. I bet Meyers would have crapped himself if offered that much money. It was probably half of what is rumored.
