To see how much the political parties have changed read about the Scopes Monkey Trial and see which political party was for evolution and which party was for creationism to be taught in schools.

Ha! Yeah, I love the part where spontaneous combustion in a pool of muck replaces creation for the enlightened.

OK--then when you call me "intolerant", what does that mean to you?

First of all I want to thank you. Debating with you has taught me that sometimes my debate tactics are a bit, for lack of a better term, in your face. I wish I could be more like you and explain my opinion and not be so passionate and emotional. Kudos.

2nd I'm not sure if you saw this post:

Make sense. Because this meme certainly doesn't....

As a Liberal, we're constantly accused of being intolerant for not accepting someone's hateful or repressive convictions. It's as if "tolerance" has come to mean respecting and accepting someone else's views, regardless of who they are or who they effect.

Wrong.

Tolerance: a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward those whose opinions, practices, race, religion, nationality, Etc., differ from ones own; freedom from bigotry.

Being open-minded does not mean arbitrarily respecting everyone and accepting everything. There are things that no one should tolerate, such as bigotry, suppression of Liberty, denial of equal rights, and abusive restrictions.

I try to preach and practice acceptance, but I do not have to tolerate intolerance. There is never an excuse or justification for hatred or abuse.

God doesn't evolve, he simply is. We are made in his image, therefore we can not evolve. It's simple math.

For the sake of argument,we aren't God, and though he made us in his image as it is said, he made us imperfect, therefore we can and have evolved. I think science and religion can be mutual. But, that's me. I can understand where both sides are coming from, that it can only be one of the other. I have always been curious though to possibility that both sides are in fact right and then I guess wrong.

It's not about party affiliation it's about worldview. Eisenhower was a progressive Republican. I wish we had more Eisenhowers right now. He's probably rolling in his grave looking at these motherfuckers in Washington capitulate to their corporate Masters and the military industrial complex... Shameful...

Which part?

All of it? :dunno:

Saying humans haven't evolved flies in the face of reality. It would ignore scientific proof. I guess we'll have a neanderthal in the White House on Friday... You know.. the one who thinks his blood and DNA is superior to mine...

Very good question. More than likely right on track.

We did evolve. We went from living in caves and throwing sharpened sticks at animals, and grunting, to having built cities, technology, developed language...etc.

Take away guns and rely on green energy and we will be back to living in caves, throwing sharpened sticks at animals. Grunting still works if you don't speak the language.

You are in luck.

Two sons were born to the Eisenhowers. The first, Doud Dwight Eisenhower, was born on September 24, 1917. "Little Icky", as he was nicknamed, died of scarlet fever on January 2, 1921. The second son, John Sheldon Doud Eisenhower, was born in Denver on August 3, 1922. On July 10, 1947, he married Barbara Jean Thompson. They had four children: Dwight David Eisenhower II, born March 31, 1948; Barbara Anne, born May 30, 1949; Susan Elaine, born December 31, 1951; and Mary Jean, born December 21, 1955. There are eight Eisenhower great-grandchildren.

Now these guys get it!

Consveratism is inherently intolerant of change. To conserve is to keep things as they are. Progress is neccessary, as the world changes, as our country changes, we cannot remain unchanged.
That's not progress, but adapting.

Things done in the name of progress are downright horrific.
