Come on now. Both of those trades were shitty, and both impacted the team in a negative manner. Plus, if O'Neal was traded to placate Dunleavy, then that's an extra mark against Whitsitt for choosing a journeyman coach over a budding All-Star.

:dunno: Dunleavy may be a second rate coach and GM - but that doesn't mean his comments about O'Neal were untrue. IF his claims that Jermaine was immature and a prima donna were true, then I consider the trade defensible. Problem is, neither of us know if they were true or not.

Hindsight being 20/20, keeping Dunleavy over O'Neal was a bad move by Whitsitt. I don't claim to have that opinion when it happened, because frankly, I don't remember what I felt at the time.

Hindsight is 20_20. When I claimed my former opinion it was because you stated that "poster x" stated that Outlaw is better at teh interwebs than Rasual Butler. I proved you to be wrong in post 35776499. I'll provide a link at a later date because typing nonsense on an internet sports forum is serious business and I dont have time to provide that link right now. But your argument is a strawman because Phil Ivey has NEVER won the World Series of Poker Main Event. Can you prove that you are a bigger Blazers fan than me? Link? Learn the game, then kthxbai

Gibberish, but funny.

He had problems with subsequent coaches, and with GM Larry Bird over replacing Isiah Thomas with Rick Carlyle. That would indicate that maybe Dunleavy was right.

Proof please?

It doesn't matter that McHale was a lousy GM. If he were Coach, he would still be a threat to Pritchard as a temporary replacement. Duh.
sorry but there are no masses with you on this, it's just you. It doesn't matter if someone has experience if they've proven themselves to be inept and have bad judgment. Any no name Assistant GM already in the organization could stand in with more credibility then McHale... McHale stepping in is as likely as them bringing back John Nash (who is and will be available). Why? Consistent bad judgement. Heres some of the lowlights...

-12 years (most w/all time Big KG), 1 playoff trip past the 1st round
-traded a 21 year old future HOFer Ray Allen for Marbury (the MVP of the recent Chinese League All Star game)
-signed Wally Szczerbiak to a 6 year 65 million dollar deal
-his pathetic drafting history in general (95-2007)
-traded Roy for Foye

if he wants back in the league there may be opportunities to coach. I think it's pretty laughable that the threat of him grabbing the GM reigns on any team would prevent him from getting such a job... we'll just have to agree to disagree

I refuse to agree to disagree. Just for offering to agree to disagree, I'll have to agree with you, in order to sink your offer. I now feel that you are right. If and when McHale replaces McMillan as Coach, Pritchard will feel no additional pressure that an experienced GM is now on staff. This new agreement between us increases the probability that Pritchard will hire McHale. I was saying no way, and you were saying way, but now we both say way.

Brilliant. You sound like some kind of salary cap genius... Ever consider a job in sports management?

How do you know I'm not a Vulcan Ivy Leaguer?

how so? I'm just a poster on an internet chat site. I like to chat about hoops, but what I say/think doesn't matter 1 iota.
