LaMarcus Aldridge Press Conference, Starts at 19:00

26:55, he talks about how tough it was to leave Portland. "Even to the last day it wasn't easy."

But go ahead, continue to crucify him.

Listening to it now..

Some interesting tidbits: He called Tim Duncan"really old" lmao.

He also said "Gregg valued face time. You know, didn't want to do it over the phone." subtle shot at Dame, even though Dame flew to go see him and ended up having to do it over the phone? Who knows.

He seemed pretty genuine about his time here in Portland. "I was embedded in that organization" (slight paraphrase).

Still, though, that letter was weak as hell.

He looks like he aged another 10 years this offseason.

And yet Kim Hughes knew he was gone a couple of weeks ago. I don't believe this bullshit for a minute.

I got this link somewhere from this board (this thread?).
Aldridge says he was very unsure. He sounds like he could have changed his mind, even after he called Olshey to say that he had decided for the Spurs.

"When you're making such a big decision, you're never going to be 100 percent right away," Aldridge said. "Leaving the organization I was at for nine years, where I've had roots and I'm embedded in their history -- it is never easy to leave. There were moments I did waver because I was leaving and going to something new. Talking to R.C. more, talking to Pop more, those guys made me feel comfortable. They made it feel like home. They made me feel safe to take this leap of faith that so far I've been fine with."

Aldridge conceded he has gone "back and forth a lot," but as he prepared to go to bed on July 3, he was almost certain he would wind up playing for the Spurs.

"When I even thought [San Antonio] was my first option, I called Portland and I told them I wasn't coming back," Aldridge said. "I went to sleep that night thinking I was gonna be a Spur. When I woke up that morning, I still felt comfortable with it. I didn't freak out in the middle of the night. I didn't wake up screaming 'No.' I ended up sticking with it."

What do you expect him to say? His agents have groomed him well. He's hoping to turn this suddenly influx of national press and attention into some endorsement deals. He's going to say all the right things and avoid anything controversial.

"I loved Portland." I love all the fans of the NBA."

I'm surprised he didn't show up to the press conference wearing a Remember the Alamo t-shirt and a 45 strapped to his hip.

I wish LMA had gone all Larry Holmes at his press conference. I would have respected him more in a way.

He did the Blazers a favor. LA was not the man to lead the Blazers to a championship, and at the very least subconsciously he new that. It sounds like Paul Allen told Neil he saw it the same way. In San Antonio Lamarcus wont have to be the leader, and maybe he'll get his.

He let the Blazers go in a new direction, and IMO it's exciting. Last year's team died with Wes' injury and they lost what made them fun to watch. Yeah Lamarcus could been the one to rally the team back and convince everyone to stay to make a big run. But LA proved he's not the guy to carry a team. The "it" factor does not reside in him. Time to move on.

When we play SA and beat them every time with LMA on the court, I would say justice is served.

Can we still hate him?
Remember that @trailblazers fan who organized the #StayLA rally? Well, LaMarcus flew her to Dallas today to have dinner with him...

(Via Facebook/JoAnna Wulffenstein):

I've held off posting anything, because I still can't quite believe it is real... But I'm here, I'm about to board, so it must be!

A few days ago, I sent an email requesting that a message be passed along to LaMarcus Aldridge. I wanted him to know how grateful we are for the last 9 years, and how Rip City feels about him. Well, he got the message. And I was sent one in return. It said:

"Hello Jo! I have great news! We sent your email to LaMarcus and he is so appreciative of you and all your support. He'd like to fly you to Dallas on Sunday to have dinner with him, as a thank you for everything you did!"

And now I am about to actually get on the plane. Is this real life?!? Wheels up for Dallas!!!! ‪#‎RipCity‬ feel the love!!

Dinner with LMA in Dallas does not really sound like a reward, y'know?

But, at least he's made one person in Portland happy. One down...

Meh, don't care. What does Aldridge have to do with Portland?

Lamarcus. Fuck you. Did you hear what I said? The while world wants me to forgive you? But no, I am going to be bitter and swallow the poison. F U.

Why hate him? He told the organization he wanted out three years ago. Olshey said all but that in his presser when he said "we didn't inherit the happiest player 3 years ago"

They knew he did not want to be here

That's funny. He wasn't stringing the team along till the last possible minute. Olshey said he was gone? When did that happen?

No he was not. They knew three years ago that he wanted out. There was a chance he would re-sign, but we weren't his first option
