If we're logical with our policies it would be in everyone's best interest to adhere to it.I agree it worked well, just not sure the same agreements would be adhered too now days.
Not opposed to world trade....Having worked a MFG who at one time had over 8K employees in Milwaukee, union jobs, 1985, then reduced to 2500 Jobs, almost overnight because they moved focused factories to China of which they own 50%. Nothing wrong with wanting more manufacturing back here.If we're logical with our policies it would be in everyone's best interest to adhere to it.
Everyone except some despots and oligarchs.
It seems quite silly of us to put ourselves in a less advantageous position at the whims of a few rich and selfish people.
But that's what we're doing.

If they can compete with against imports from greedy oligarchs and commies with slave labor.Companies just don’t want to pay what it takes to make a good living here. They’ll avoid it at all costs. I mean it sounds good in theory. But the greed overrunneth.

There aren't enough laborers here. I work in manufacturing now. We can't get enough employees to do the manufacturing that we already have. Not opposed to world trade....Having worked a MFG who at one time had over 8K employees in Milwaukee, union jobs, 1985, then reduced to 2500 Jobs, almost overnight because they moved focused factories to China of which they own 50%. Any manufacturing that comes back is going to be automated. All of the money is going into billionaire's pockets. And we'll have a more isolationist less secure world. Nothing about that is good.
I have a son that a journeyman electrician that doing do College and a son that's a plumber that didnt doing college and they both do well. A son that has nan excavating company that does very well. There are jobs out there and good employees are hard to get.Companies just don’t want to pay what it takes to make a good living here. They’ll avoid it at all costs. I mean it sounds good in theory. The rest of the world looking at the US...
Not if it's manufacturing by robotics but actual humans doing much is questionable. It's just completely unrealistic to think that we're going to bring manufacturing back to the US.
Robots aren't going to be as good as North Korean, Chinese (exported American prisoners?) slave labor. For a long time. Not if it's manufacturing by robotics but actual humans doing much is questionable.
AI and robots. Yup. Eventually robots will be advanced enough to completely replace any manual labor. Robots don’t need breaks. They can work 24/7. They will lost likely be much more precise with a higher consistency of replication of products. Not if it's manufacturing by robotics but actual humans doing much is questionable.
