Nick Nurse was AMAZING in the 2019 playoffs, thats all matters
I would almost complain the lack of stability and consistency has been a bigger issue this year than an inability to try new things.
I'm open to a list of guys who have left Portland since 2012 to later become all-stars. What names do you got?
Nick Nurse currently has coached the Raptors out of the playoffs and is “developing” Gary Trent Jr. so well he’s regressed to a 36% 3pt shooter in Toronto. Amazing what losing a Kahwi Leonard does for a coaching genius, isn’t it?
From my observation, the JAGs (Just a guy) who play for Stotts tends to have their best seasons in Portland. Will Barton is an exception but he’s just a role player on a very good team.
Am I missing someone?
Hassan Whiteside went from a double-double machine for Stotts on a playoff team to out of the rotation for the Kings in less than 6 months.

so it’s only a fail if they become all stars elsewhere? Pretty much everyone that Olshey has drafted has at minimum become a rotation player in the NBA.
Last year Stotts was playing Anthony Tolliver and Mario Hezonja over the younger players on the roster. One of them is now clinging on to ten day contracts while the other is out of the league.
Actually the list of younger players Stotts hasn’t dicked in and out of the rotation at a crucial time in their development is shorter than the ones he has.
Let me know if I have this correct:
When Nurse had two all-stars, including an all-nba 2 way player, he was a great coach?
After losing his all-nba player, his teams have continued to decline?
Not too shocking is it?

The problem is that Stotts is an Olshey thing. The buck stops with Olshey. He is the president of basketball operations so the coaching staff is his responsibility. Olshey has been spinning Stotts as a championship coach and the roster as a championship roster, neither are. Stotts should be obvious but so should the Dame/CJ pairing.I mostly disagree with the Olshey bashing. We have the personnel to be a top 10 defense, and yet we have one of the worst defenses in the history of the league. That's not on Olshey, that's on the coach.
CJ is a good player, but he is not a star. He comes into the argument of best shooting guards after #7. That is not a star. I would say the Blazers need another top 5 player at their position, not sure who it is, but they are not on the Blazers at this time.

right, so back to my original question. Who is this player and how do we get them?
reasonable explanation would be that the goal is to force organization to make big changes (fire gm, head coach, shake up the roster)again.
What is the point of this article?
I would agree too if he is legitimately asking "What is CJ?" RoCo wasn't a bad get maybe an overpay but not a bad deal. Norm was a bad deal because of CJ and due to the fact that he can just walk at the end of the season.Wholeheartedly agree with Quick
Beal is taking 22.8 2 pt shots per game at 48.8% and 6.3 3 pt per game at 35%Hot take time. CJ could score 30ppg on a bad team if he was asked to like a Bradley Beal is in DC. Put Westbrook with him and CJ averages that IMO.
I don't know. I am not a NBA GM. I have no idea who is available. I was just responding to the quick comment about " what about CJ" .right, so back to my original question. Who is this player and how do we get them?
Beal is taking 22.8 2 pt shots per game at 48.8% and 6.3 3 pt per game at 35%
CJ is taking 19.1 2 pt shots at 45.5 and 9.4 3 pt shots at 39.6.
Beal is taking 29.1 shots per game and CJ is taking 28.5 shots per Game. Beal is averaging a half shot more per game than CJ, but Beal is averaging 8 points more per game and is the focus of the other teams defense more than CJ is. Please tell me how CJ is going to average 8 more points on a bad team than the blazers on .5 more shots per game.
the nuggets, suns, and Jazz have been to the same amount of conference finals in the past five years combined as the blazers.
I don't know. I am not a NBA GM. I have no idea who is available. I was just responding to the quick comment about " what about CJ" .
I believe 16 of those guys were either drafted after one of our picks or has been traded to another team since 2012. Not 1 or 2... 16!
If we don't have the assests to land them, who's fault is that? The guy in charge of obtaining assets.

You might want to go back and read my original post. I never mentioned anything about trading CJ. I responded to the quick post. I pointed out CJ is not a star, a good player but not a star. You are the one who responded and mentioned anything about trading CJ> I just said the Blazers needed a second player who is top 5 at what ever position they played. I am not a GM, just like you are. I am not going to spend tons of time researching to see who makes the same salary as each blazers and figure out trades that are neve going to happen. I don't get paid nearly enough by the Blazers, where my salary is 0.00 by them top work out trades, plus I don't have numbers to any of the other GM's.this is my issue with the trade CJ crowd. Rarely ever followed up with any specific/realistic ideas. I’m ok with trading him, but I’m not trading him just to trade him. And it shouldn’t be hard to identify a target btw, rosters aren’t that big and only so many guys make comparable money.
You know it’s all fucked when fentress is making points.
