Lillard's and Aldridge's relationship. (He will come back Portland one day) (1 Viewer)

Or being someone in.
Let turner start aNd let dame play off the ball alot more.

Same, I never really understood the level of hate that some fans still have. I hate how it all went down but if he didn't have a relationship with Lillard at the time, I can understand why he might move on. With the comments in the article it's pretty apparent that Aldridge doesn't have any bad feelings about Portland.

But it still sucks when players choose to leave. That's why I don't take Lillard, Nurk, and yes, CJ, for granted. They actually want to be here.
For me, a lot of it comes from him not wanting to be hear and hin being immature when he was here. Now it seems like he wishes he was still here and seems to have matured a bit. He did blame others for their issue which was weak but idk, I just dont have that hatred.

i feel like hurling after reading that. He left. Ruined what coulda been a tremendous team cuz he supposedly wanted to be near his kids. Quit dragging dame down. Now he is rethinking leaving? fuck off, dude.

He would be a perfect fit though. ugh

Dame is a smart guy. That article sounds like he's laying the groundwork to soften up the fans' animosity toward LMA. Get them open to the thought, then Aldridge comes back and apologizes for how he left things. Water under the bridge for most.

What are Rolo, Batum, and Wes doing these days? Sounds like it’s time to get the band back together.

LaMarshmallow who? Forget that guy. First, the problem was Roy, then it was Oden, finally it was Dame. It was always someone else. You know what I think? The problem was him. It's always going to be him.

No reunion. He's gone and should stay gone.

He's a diva. Right now, he would help this team. Two years from now, meh. Hard pass.

Only 7 million of the last year of his contract is guaranteed. If waived, he would only be 35 at the start of 2020-21. Even at 36, there are players still productive this season. Tyson Chandler, Dirk, Pau, and Nene are all big men that have contributed this season.

I would take an Aldridge coming off the bench defensively at 36 over Kanter right now.

I know people are bitter still, but if you put Aldridge on this current team, you probably have a championship contender. Dame, CJ, LMA, Nurk.

Additionally, having Aldridge probably means we wouldn't have had the unfortunate situation of signing Turner, Crabbe, Leonard and Harkless to those awful deals....

Which further highlights the thought: FUCK ALDRIDGE!

I don’t get the animosity. It’s fucking stupid. Acting like grudge-holding 3rd graders won’t get this team out of the first round. If you can bring him back, you do it.

The thought is he left us high and dry to better pastures. That didn't work out, and we are back in the mix being competative and now he wants to open the door after we have rebuilt WITHOUT him after losing several years of prime Dame, CJ and Aldridge time, which would have competed for a ring the past few seasons instead of struggling?

I wouldn't be mad if he came back, but I don't like Aldridge for abandoning the Blazers in his prime that had a prime Damian Lillard.

The way I see it, if we had kept Aldridge, Olshey likely wouldn't have made some of the moves that he's made since then. Would Nurk be on the roster? Would the Blazers have kept Batum and his intermittent contributions? The only relevant questions to me are, when Aldridge becomes available, will he add a missing ingredient that will let the team be more successful and what will it cost to get him? If those questions can be answered positively, I certainly don't have a problem with bringing him back. I didn't care for the way he left; the fact that he said he wanted to stay and be the greatest Blazer evers, but ultimately left the team without allowing the Blazers to get any value out of him. In the long run, though, the past is the past and all I care about it getting this team to the point where it can compete for a title ASAP. If Aldridge is a part of that, great.

Probably would have tweaked the roster to compete for a championship. Guys like Brook Lopez, etc.

The problem is I don't see LaMarcus ever accepting a bench role.

If he does want to come back to Portland is it because he wants to play for the Blazers, or is it because SA didn't work out the way he figured it would? If it's the former, I would be willing to consider it. If it is the latter - forget it. We don't need a player, no matter how talented, who is just going through the motions for a paycheck.

"I still want to end my legacy on a high note, instead of fading into obscurity."

Its probably more about him than him giving a damn about the Blazers. He knows wherever he goes, he'll get relegated into a bench role sooner, rather than later, in Portland, he has a pre-existing legacy he probably thinks he can recapture and end his career on a good note.

That's LMA to a "T." He doesn't have the fire in his belly to be Batman, and has too much ego to be Robin. You can let him wear the mask and drive the Batmobile - but he will drive 10 MPH under the speed limit and take the longest possible route to the crime scene.

You were gone, but we’re happy you’re back!

You guys want that SOFT ASS, SOFT MINDED, JUMP SHOOTING, DEFENSIVE LIABILITY, SELFISH, LYING PIECE OF SHIT on my team?

FUCK THAT.

Y'all know better....

I find this thread pretty fun how it's the ones that do much of the whining about the team that seem to discourage acquiring better talent

:gasoline:

Exactly, he had dreams of being the next Tim Duncan, next to Kawhi and under Pop. Sounded like a dream but turns out he isn't Tim Duncan, Kawhi had his own plans, and Pop is about to say fuck it and throw in the towel.. Now SA is all but rebuilding and PDX is competitive. Ain't nobody got time for LA anymore, Mr drop 40 and 20 one night then show up for 6 and 2 the next. He made his bed in SA he can sleep in it.

Shooting fewer long jumpers now than ever in his career.
Had positive DWS and DBPM his entire career.
Has clearly matured over the past 3.5 years.
Dame would take him back.

Yes, I would take him back too. People change; people grow.

Really? Who's his coach?

Exactly.

He gets back here and would revert. He's NEVER liked post play.

He's a Center now. We don't need one.
