Agreed. I doubt he wants (or is up to) the responsibility. Perfect third fiddle who provides a threat the other team has to respectIMO the problem first go around was LA thought he was/is/gonna always be the bigger star and face of the franchise. Now that he knows Dame is a first team all nba guy I doubt he would be whining about not being the man, I actually think at this stage he’d accept the 3rd scorer role with open arms and most likely excel at it.
For geriatric Aldridge? Did I misunderstand your post? The good thing is we’ll get more than half the season to see what kind of progress Collins has made. And if he’s starting at power forward and takes that next step, we won’t even need Aldridge. But if he’s still up and down I think a package of Bazemore/Whiteside expiring and Zach (along with a pick) could be in play.
I guess I have some sympathy with Aldridge because I was once in a situation where I had a job that was good for many years, then some real problems developed. I was offered a transfer, not within the company, my original plan, but an affiliate elsewhere. Turned out to be a disaster. Now, the Spurs are not a hellhole and I'm sure LA was not abused or lied to or faced illegal working conditions. But I tried, several times, to return without success, then the new job threw me away like garbage, found another, crappy, job, and finally retired. So I'm OK now but I kicked myself for, in the face of what were real issues, bailing. Perhaps Aldridge is realizing Portland is/was his best environment. If he can recognize the team runs through Dame, and wants to return, and the Blazers don't have to give up a ton for him, I'm all for it. He's got some good years left.

If I were a GM I would totally come on a site like this and mess with people hahaMy point was that the guy from outsiders left Little out of his rotation.
While putting Simons and Trentjr in it.
Clearly it's a giant stretch that Little will force himself onto the court. But it's a known commodity that Simons and Trentjr will be key contributors this year.
And in Simons case he's a future HOF player.
Clearly...
In limited minutes/opportunity Trentjr would make the same mistakes Armon Johnson would.
Driving to the rim against three defenders.
Taking a tough contested jumper early in the clock.
Armon Johnson used to come down and already have it in his mind if he's going to shoot or pass. Trentjr certainly looked a lot like that in his limited minutes last year.
I'm allowed to disagree with the majority of the forum.
I certainly have for the past two years about Meyers Leonard.
That asset helped get Whiteside. So he certainly didn't have the negative trade value that a lot of the forum believed he to have.
Same with ET. Swap for someone who could actually shoot without attaching draft picks?
Obviously this forum is the place where every nba gm comes to. To figure out what a player is worth/able to do during the season.
Anyone who disagrees with that will certainly be told so.
Hell no.Would you do Aldridge + Derozan for Whiteside, Bazemore, Skal + 2020 1st, 2022 1st and 2024 1st ?

That would definitely be an overall talent upgrade for this squad, but fit would still be an issue. We'd still be looking at a team with very little outside shooting, which would seem to be difficult to rely on in this day and age.Would you do Aldridge + Derozan for Whiteside, Bazemore, Skal + 2020 1st, 2022 1st and 2024 1st ?

I'm loath to give out a pick 5 years into the future, but if it were just 2 picks, I'd probably take the gamble. Opposing teams really couldn't double Dame with CJ/Derozan/LA/Nurk alongside him--too many other scoring threats (even if not from beyond the arc). Derozan could also act in a point-forward role; I didn't realize he averaged over 6 assists a game last year. He could definitely be a secondary (tertiary?) initiator of the offense to allow Dame to play off the ball. Simons/Hood/Hezonja/ZC is a pretty decent bench too--lots of versatility there, I think.
Yeah, I think a couple firsts is not a terrible cost for a 2-year gamble on that kind of talent upgrade.

I personally value Whiteside more than LMA (especially given the contracts).
Baze + Skal + Picks is too high of price for DeRozan. His mid-range game would just clog the floor on offense.
That lineup would be atrocious for Portland.that lineup would be fearsome, perhaps as good as any in the league, I imagine defensively it could have weaknesses though, I dont really know DeRozan
DeRozan can’t defend and is the king of long twos. Everything that doesn’t work in today’s NBA.
That lineup would be atrocious for Portland.
CJ, LMA, & Derozon would all be hunting for their shots in the mid-range - taking away opportunities from the most effective offensive weapon Portland has (Dame driving to the basket). All are high-use players. None are above average defenders.
There's a lot if talent with that lineup, just a horrible fit...
I wouldn’t jump the gun on Whiteside just yet, let’s seen him on a team with a clear pecking order first.I’d rather just give up Whiteside for LA once Nurk is healthy and let Hood start at 3. I can handle one more season of LA at 24 mil but I don’t wanna pay DD 28 mil too.
