I wouldn't give up Hassan for LA. I wouldn't give up Collins either. With Melo, we don't need LA.

Anthony is better as a PF and Aldridge is better as a C.If Neil did land Aldridge I suppose that we'd move Carmelo to SF and Hood comes off the bench?
Dame
McCollum
Anthony
Aldridge
Whiteside

Which is why we shouldnt go after him.Except LA is notorious for not wanting to playing center.
Why does that matter?Except LA is notorious for not wanting to playing center.

I'll be mildly surprised if Portland trades either Whiteside or Bazemore for a player that doesn't have an expiring contract
I bet they trade for a player with an expiring contract *next* year, so they can say that they'll be able to be a player at the next deadline..where they'll trade for a player with an expiring contract the year after that so they can say they'll be able to be a player at the next deadline...and repeat.
I think the projected CAP is going to be much lower.my take is that trading for a Love or a Porter or an Aldridge means Portland would be a taxpayer again next season. And the following year would be risking repeater tax (when Dame & CJ's salaries jump a combined 14M). The Blazers have a chance to get that under control this summer as long as they don't add future salary. How good a team they'd be is questionable though
I wonder if the NBA is going to update their projected salary cap before the trade deadline. IIRC, they usually do. The chatter about the China boycotts has died down and I've been skeptical about the predictions of a 10-15% drop in the cap. But even a static cap is going to make things really tight for teams, especially a team like Portland who has committed 55-60% of their cap to two small guards
I think the projected CAP is going to be much lower.
Not because of China, but because of overall viewership is on the decline.

I got my love of basketball from my Dad, and I got him to watch some of the playoffs last year, but he basically hates the NBA at this point. He believes most of the stars are manufactured personalities, you can't play good defense without getting called for fouls esp in the regular season. The game is mostly a 3 point contest. Many NBA teams don't know how to run a fastbreak. His list of things he hates about the modern NBA is pretty long and he's been watching it for 60ish years. Thing is a lot of his points, I kind of agree with, or at least I understand where he's coming from.Blows me away. How can a fan just STOP watching their favorite team play regardless of what's going on? Man I never missed a game growing up until I started working for them. No way I'd miss a game, even when they struggled.

Just did a little digging. Blazers Broadcasting’s numbers are actually UP! Even higher than last season. Gotta’ love that.I think the projected CAP is going to be much lower.

hah!Wait, are you my son?
Seriously, though, while I kind of agree with many of your dad's complaints, I'm still enjoying the game in the 3-point era. The game got pretty boring in the defensive era of the Pat Riley Knicks. I wouldn't mind them allowing a bit more hand checking though.

Don't let ratings fool you. The NBA is more popular than ever. Most of the declining ratings are due to only counting TV cable box and satellite viewers. People watching through streaming services are much more difficult to track for ratings. Plus just look how many people in here illegally stream the games.wow...those are huge drops. But aren't the TV contracts locked in already? or does revenue contract with ratings?
It's not hard to track "streaming", it's hard to track illegal streaming though.Don't let ratings fool you. The NBA is more popular than ever. This is a problem with all TV not just the NBA.
I'm pretty sure those "ratings" are only including TV viewers to the actual channel. Anyone streaming on their computer, phone, or tablet whether legally or illegally aren't being accounted for in the "declining" numbers. It's not hard to track "streaming", it's hard to track illegal streaming though.
