Lillard's and Aldridge's relationship. (He will come back Portland one day)

I'm pretty sure those "ratings" are only including TV viewers to the actual channel. Anyone streaming on their computer, phone, or tablet whether legally or illegally aren't being accounted for in the "declining" numbers.
I'm not sure, but either way, there seems to be growing sentiment that the caps going down, and not very many numbers suggesting that the NBA is more popular than ever. It may be, but I haven't heard anyone back that assertion up with real numbers.

I'd give them Bazemore, Little and a pick.

Yikes. No
I got my love of basketball from my Dad, and I got him to watch some of the playoffs last year, but he basically hates the NBA at this point. He believes most of the stars are manufactured personalities, you can't play good defense without getting called for fouls esp in the regular season. The game is mostly a 3 point contest. Many NBA teams don't know how to run a fastbreak. His list of things he hates about the modern NBA is pretty long and he's been watching it for 60ish years. Thing is a lot of his points, I kind of agree with, or at least I understand where he's coming from.

i'm 100% with your dad. I rarely watch NBA. I watch Portland usually because its so comforting to lay on the couch in the winter and watch the Blazers for nostalgia reasons. But the game itself is awful. I dont like this type of basketball. I find myself counting passes when they cross half court, just to track how many times its 0 or 1, and I'll tell my kids how bad that is. This is all they know of course, so they think I'm probably some old fart who doesnt get it. The amount of bad shots is nauseating. As far as the athleticism, its unreal and impressive, but who cares. I like the actual game of basketball.

Don't let ratings fool you. The NBA is more popular than ever. Most of the declining ratings are due to only counting TV cable box and satellite viewers. People watching through streaming services are much more difficult to track for ratings. Plus just look how many people in here illegally stream the games.

This is a problem with all TV not just the NBA.

I totally agree with you in fact I’m very suprised this exact point is not being centered on more. I kid you not I really don’t know anybody that legally streams games all my friends watch illegally. They are so reliable nowadays you really don’t need to pay for nba streaming

Just did a little digging. Blazers Broadcasting’s numbers are actually UP! Even higher than last season. Gotta’ love that.
They are the best! Lamar and Kevin are great! I love them. And of course, Brooke is on too.

It's not about popularity. It's about $$$. Declining ratings means fewer people are watching live on TV, which means less ad revenue that can be generated to pay those obscene contracts the TV providers give to the NBA (& other sports).

More people are streaming & watching recorded versions of the game to be able to skip commercials.

There is a moral/ethical issue that is being glossed over here.... However, this type of behavior is rampant & will have large ramifications for all parties involved moving forward.

It is about money but my point is this is a television problem across the board, not just sports. Viewers are down because more and more people are cutting the cord. It's why ESPN and Disney now have their own streaming services that cost money. Heck Comcast now has a DVR feature that allows you to skip commercials on a lot of shows. Why would they do that if getting people to watch ads was the most important thing still?

That's one way to look at it....... or maybe they REALLY love the highlight packages and music videos.....replays as well.

I love the replays, especially when it’s right in the middle of a live play, those are my favorite. Only thing better is the overhead cam.

You should come into the studio with us and see what all goes into a broadcast. Maybe give you a different spin on what it takes to put a broadcast on. Or maybe we can come and stand over YOUR shoulder at work and critique. What do you say? I'm sure that would be fun.

Or maybe just fix it. You wouldn’t be able to fit everyone that’s complained about it in that truck anyway.

You could stand over my shoulder and tell me what to do all you want, noise canceling head phones are great.
Im actually impressed with how fast replays are put up. Anyone thats done video editing or video work knows its a heck of a process. Now Im gonna take a wild guess and say I bet the equipment in the Truck is a lot nice than a PC and some editing software, but no doubt thats a legit production, even if their are blunders here and there.

I would be interested to hear your opinion if you actually came down and saw what all goes into a broadcast. I really would. The amount of communication needed for 3 straight hours of LIVE TV that it takes. If my producer wants to see a replay of something, we show it. If my director wants to show a certain camera angle, we show it. If I want to show highlights of a certain player, we show it. We have been nominated 5 times for Emmys and won 2. Thats a pretty big deal. I'm not sure what field of work your in, but I'm sure if you won an award for what you do, you earned it.
The director, myself and our graphics guy work in Vegas for the league on their summer broadcast. Of ALL 30 teams, they bring us 3 in. I think we are deserving. So the industry itself says we are damn good at what we do.

Shit, doesn't matter what your job is, mistakes happen right? Only thing is, if I srew up, A LOT of people see it.

i have never once watched a blazer game and gotten annoyed with the broadcast, other than not knowing after a guy scored how many points he had. For some reason that annoyed me, but its been fixed. Other than that, its really well done.

I have had noticed a few mistakes here and there, or had plays I didnt see, but never gotten that frustrated by it.

Hey I watch broadcasts all the time and see mistakes in everyone of em. I saw 3 or 4 just last night on MNF. And since I know what goes on and what it takes to put a show on the air, it didn't piss me off at all. I totally understood why they went to a graphic or camera angle or replay when then they shouldn't have.
It happens. You have 45 people working together on a live sports broadcast.....shit happens.

Instead of wasting time typing out your awards, wouldn't it be more productive to actually relay the complaint; one that’s been a consistent issue for years? I know I’m not the only one that’s brought it up. It’s a pretty basic one too.

Oh I don't think I was wasting my time. I'm passing along that in the industry of LIVE sports broadcasting, we are considered pretty damn good. You don't want to take me up on my offer to come down and see what it takes? Others have and have left pretty amazed at what they witnessed. In turn I'll come down to where you work and watch. What do you think?

I think you're really hoping Scalma is Ron Jeremy...

On the other side, do you visit auto manufacturing plants before you critique vehicles?
Do you visit cell phone R&D facilities before you comment on their functionality?
Do you visit Nike and Adidas' overseas sweatshops before you offer opinions on their shoes?

Consumers do not necessarily need to have a behind-the-scenes perspective on production in order to have a valuable or relevant perspective on the product.

Great points..... I expect to have issues with my vehicle. It's part of owning and driving a car. I have never bitched about a car I have owned. I know what I'm getting into.
As far as making shoes.....I know I don't have the skill or knowledge of how to create them, I leave it to the experts. So I buy the ones I like and stick with 'em.

Not sure if that answered your question.

No, because I don’t need to see it to appreciate the work that goes into it. Don’t know where or when I questioned that anyway? And I live in California. Now will you ignore my (or should I say our) constructive criticism, or will you actually do something about it?

What exactly are your complaints? And what should have happened instead?

I have numerous friends that are not as into the NBA these days as compared to years ago. For some of the same reasons as you mentioned!
Practice? Practice? Man you talking about Practice?

How good would your production be if @Scalma was hotboxing the Truck?
