Yep. They still bring this up now and then on the radio shows.

In fact. they know I am from Portland and my name when I call or text in is .9

That's fantastic. I bet it makes you smile every time they say it.

That was a good article. I liked hearing the perspectives of the players and coaches from both teams. That was such a hard fought, closely contested series that ended in such a dramatic fashion, you know it had to have a huge emotional impact on both sides. Heck, it had a huge emotional impact on me, and I'm just a fan. Yeah, I have a lot of passion for this team and the game of basketball, but it's not like it's my profession. These guys have the same emotional investment as the most die hard fan, but this is also what they do for a living. Money is at stake, jobs on the line, reputations made and broken. Makes you wonder if the Rockets had won that series, if they would have been more inclined to match Dallas' offer to Parsons to keep their core together. Kevin McHale has to be thrilled that the Rockets are off to a good start. A lot of people in Houston wanted him fired after that series. If the Rockets had gotten off to the slow start, he probably would have been fired by now.

That's a great read. Funny to see Parsons and Lin quoted, and listed as ex-Rockets. Also interesting that it was Mo telling Lillard to ignore the coach, and now Mo is an ex-Blazer...

Mo made the right call.

Who knew Mo was our MVP last year? He made the right call:

When I stepped on the court, Mo Williams kept telling me "Go to the ball, go to the ball." I was like, "That's not the play." He was like, "I don't care. Go get the ball."

Mo made the right call.

Mo should get some credit for putting the thought in his mind, but did you read how Dame analyzed the situation? Extremely intelligent guy right there.

Once I saw the guy guarding the inbounds (Terrence Jones), his body was opened up, he wasn't really denying the ball from coming right in, I was like "I can get a shot right there." I was just watching the referee after that to see when he was going to blow the whistle. They were still communicating how they wanted to guard the guards. The referee blew the whistle, and I just took off. Nico (Nicolas Batum) was looking for what we drew up. I had to get his attention, so I clapped at him a couple times.

It also shows how incredibly disorganized the Rockets defense was on that last play. They had two timeouts (a 20 by POR and a full by HOU) to figure it out and Harden and Parsons were still trying to decide what to do when the refs blew the whistle. That indecision cost Houston the series. Lillard broke immediately to the ball, caught it and got the shot off before Parsons could recover. Series over!

Wow what a great read!

It really was. I wish we could get more of these in depth interview type articles quoting multiple sources from both teams. As fans, we all enjoyed that moment, but it really is eye opening to hear the players and coaches on both sides break down what happened and why it happened.

Yeah it gives an entirely different angle. This is how sports journalism should be like

I don't know how you can have a thread about the shot and not have a video of the shot

I can watch that 100 times and not get bored

Every time I watch it I notice something new.

Did you see how Dame feigned a sort of disinterest right before he took off? That's some high quality acting right there

Freaking incredible!

i think this is a video that is up there with the last play in the finals against Philadelphia (ball...5 seconds to go...).

You can watch it 1000 times, and still get goose bumps. It might be 15 years from now, and someone will post a video of it and go "holy shit, remember this?"

hopefully after a long and couple titles and a hall of fame worthy career, all in Portland of course!

Where does Lillard rank among all time Blazers (not using the finals as a criteria) in their first three seasons as a Blazer?

Dare I say he's arguably the best, most polished pro that has ever played in Portland?

Sure, Petrie put up great #'s, but he had to, there wasn't much else on the team at the time. Yes, I know they had Wicks and won the most (at the time) games as an expansion team, but that team didn't have a ton of talent.

Roy was pretty good, and I think Lillard is better than Roy.

Absolutely better. Why?! Lillard can play within a system where other players having plays called for them. Roy is just a better version of Harden, but has problems with other playmakers. Dillard would have no problem, using Blake as a reference...

I know it's putting the cart well before the horse, but could you imagine what kind of celebration would go on at the RG if they did win a title in Portland? I don't know if people would go home the rest of the night.

I would fly to Portland for the parade. It's been way tooooooo long for this great organization and fans to be without a title.

I've dealt with Laker fans rubbing "You don't have hardware" throughout my teens, twenties and thirties. We need one!
