Lillard's star is fading fast

He seems to think he's the same player he was his rookie year, but he's not. He's worse. Tonight he watched while Benoh Udra set a career playoff high, making him just the latest point guard to have a career game against Lillard. What happened to Damian Lillard, that's what I want to know?

He isn't the only one with physical issues. I'm sure just about every player has something nagging at them especially at this time of year. This can only be used for so long.

Never said he was. But he is hurt more than most. A combination of back injury and ligament issue in his fingers is a death sentence when the two are together. He and the team was insistent on him playing all 82 games (since he has a streak going) and that was a horrible idea. He needed rest.

Yup couldn't agree more. I've said it all year. Dude needs to swallow his damn pride. Take a week, 2 weeks, a month off, however long is needed to get ready and healed up for the playoffs. But no a streak of games seems more important.

I think it's a lil less physical than it is mental.

If it was physical they would have gave him a rest. Damn the streak. What's more important the teams success or his stretch of games of starting? If the organization says the latter. It's no wonder why they are where they are at.

I haven't seen him on any injury report. Did you ask him if his fingers and back still hurt? Have you heard any of the announcers, or anyone close to the team talk about it being an issue? The finger injury happened 5 months ago. So again, do you know this, or is it an ASSumption.

His shooting really started to slump in January, and the finger injury took place December 4th, and he had many great shooting nights in the month of December. In fact, the 2nd half of December he was on fire from 3.

But...

And I don't believe this is it but there could be a correlation between the slump and the time he went down at the Moda Center versus the Heat. That's when it all started to go down hill. Ironically, that was the same day the shoes were unveiled.

Yes, it could be his back. But when Batum was in his slump, he was all to eager to blame it on his back. Maybe Damian doesn't want to make excuses or whatever, but I don't hear him, or anyone close to the team bringing it up. So it's pure speculation.

Even when he was cold shooting, he didn't seem to have a problem taking it to the rim with abandon. Not sure that is something a guy with a gimpy back would want to do.

He was horrendous against San Antonio in the playoffs last year too. 17.4% from three in that series. This whole year his FG% and 3pt% numbers have been down. The slump started after The Shot against Houston.
