Little Davey Stockton the real deal?

Putting up ridiculous stats in the D-league after being called up a couple weeks ago for a 10 day with the Kings.

He was named D-League player of the week, averaging 38.7 pts, 13.7 assists, 6.7 rebounds and 4.3 steals.

This one came out of left field. I always liked him at Gonzaga as a gritty player and tenacious defender. But now he's a legit NBA prospect.

No. Bighorns system is terrible for players trying to have an all around game.

They gave up 175 to the D'fenders. They had 3 wins at the time, IIRC.

Is the D-League really that bad? I've never watched a game, but the defense in that video was terrible. It looked like the defense you see in the NBA all star game. I guess that's why the both teams scored around 150 points.

It's unfortunate that the D-League hasn't figured out what minor-league baseball has; that its purpose needs to be to prep guys to transition to the big leagues, not to win games. This is why the NBA needs a true farm system, not this bastardized version of one.

It's really the culture of it all that hinders it from happening, and until there is a shift, it may take some time. Basketball is so enthralled with the individual rather than the team.

You are all correct. The biggest problem with the NBDL is it is turning into a glorified version of AAU ball. Guys who have absolutely no shot at ever playing in the NBA are playing 1 on 1/no defense/rat ball.

Watching those games is painful. At least with Triple A baseball (or minor league hockey leagues) you get a version of what is played in the pros. In the NBDL, it's not.

Basketball is such a weird sport. It's not really a fundamental game like Baseball or Hockey anymore. The D-League is an abomination, if it ever is to succeed it needs legit coaching and EVERY NBA team needs an affiliate so they can send up and down players. If that doesn't work I'd love to see NBA teams become affiliated with certain European clubs. Bottomline, there should be a real farm system to put young men drafted to deep teams/undrafted. I also think 2-3 years mandatory in college (or overseas) would be a good start for developing players for a better NBA.

Is the Bighorns a 1 on 1 affiliate of the Kings? I thought they were someone elses?

Anyway, D league teams mirror their NBA teams schemes, and I don't think the Kings use the Grenwald system.
