She’s just fine. Coach stepped down this offseason. New coach. Teams struggling playing a real tough schedule so far. I think he’s trying everything possible to turn things around. INCLUDING sitting quite a few of their better players including her for some random reason. She seems to be fine. Captains pulled her aside to make sure she’s good and she seems to be. Me and the wife are a mess though. This is tough. Never gone thru this with her. She’s always been the star of the team.
She’ll get thru it and so will we, HA!

One thing is, we never talk to her about this stuff…..lets her get thru it and handle it with her teammates. She knows we’re here for her.
Great job. You're right, she'll do fine.

3 of the schools my daughter was looking at had their head coaches (or the assistant she liked most) leave between the time she committed and the start of the school year.

Granted, that wasn't D1, but it wasn't even something we'd really considered when talking to them... It's an eye opener.

I was gonna ask if the interim guy was mixing things up...didnt expect a full boat rocking! Just let em all play, turn up the pressure and give everyone max pace burn!!

I prepped her going into college that ALL of her teammates were the stars of their club/HS teams…..I think I need to remind myself of that.
Unrelated to athletics, but my son is experiencing something similar in his engineering program. Always been the smartest in the room, and now he's in a program full of people just like him (and then some). Told us this weekend how after struggling in his tough classes, he has to occasionally spend time around people in less demanding majors just so he can feel normal.

Ouch. That’s life though right. On and off the field or court.

I was taught that if you surround yourself with those on a mission to succeed and be the best it only helps you. Wishing him the best…..

SideNote: If you want to help him feel better about his OWN intelligence…. Just cut and paste my posts on here into a book. Should cheer him up only after one page! #BAM

He is starting to appreciate the value of being around people who can elevate you. It's just a tough transition.

Yes, the return on investment for that choice is definitely big picture. He will reap benefits down the line for sure.
My daughter started distancing herself and the other way around around her freshman year of HS…..She was determined to get to that next level and wasn’t going to let those around her on different paths come in the way. These other girls weren’t doing anything normal HS kids do, but my daughter knew what it took to get where she wanted.
6am training and weights don’t mix with drinking at parties the night before.
It was tough, as popular as she was she felt left out a lot. I let her make all her own decisions when it came to that stuff too, which I think is paying off now.

Wishing your son the best. If there’s anything @THE HCP can do to help…..(actually I could only help with his streetcars or luck with the ladies to be honest.

And as you have obviously heard on here that I don’t know anything about the game of basketball…..but the game of raising strong/smart and independent kids….I’m a HOF’er!

@THE HCP transfer portal time!? Coaches matter.

Zero mins vs UP in Portland for the hometown kid is downright disrespectful.
Was down in SD and SF this past week to be with her and watch her play. Had a real heart to heart with her about her situation. She is really handling it well. We are very impressed with her maturity. THAT option hasn’t come up and yet and I doubt it will. She is so unbelievably happy with the school and her life down there. We’ll see how this turns out. I CAN tell you it’s KILLING the wife and I right now.

I am sure you know it, but as long as she is happy... that's really all that matters.

It’s truly amazing how your world, way of thinking and priorities change when you have kids…..Totally different view of things and what’s important. I’ll be honest I hated the Lakers before my kids were around…HA!

Yeah 100% happiness above all -- good luck to her! Junior year breakout time!! #LFG
Thanks you guys.
SIDENOTE: I think she is going to be working for the Warriors once soccer season is over. Running stats and working with their PR department. Still up in the air, but will be a cool experience for her.

When you have a bunch of grandkids you can go back to hating the lakers.

Losses are piling up for the USF Dons…..tough season for the kid. But we did get about 25 people down to Corvallis to root her on……. My first ever game I worked in Sports Broadcasting was on that field….blows the mind to see my daughter playing on it. Anne Shautz was there calling the game which made it that more special. Thanks for letting me share FAMS!

She's doing great! But you can't expect her to beat Oregon State University. After all Oregon State is the TOP University in the state!

You soccer fans will love her ALMOST made free kick also. I’ll share later!
