I dont know maybe it's an educated guess....and I like Cervelli, he plays with intensity and he's also been one of the few Yanks in recent years who hits well w/risp/ on base.
Off the top of my head- He's appeared in 112 g in the past four seasons.
And its not a case of them being afraid to put him in the lineup as he has been a very decent offensive player....not exactly Joel Skinner If you get my drift....lol.
Any suggestions? I'm open for answers/explanations.

Cervelli
2010: Cervelli goes down in March with a concussion.
2011: Backing up Martin, breaks his foot in March.
2012: Loses Martin backup job to Stewart, mopes around in Scranton.
2013: Martin to Pitt, Cervelli becomes starting C. Breaks right hand in April. Suspended for Biogenesis link in August.
2014: Wins backup competition, injures hamstring in April; 60-day DL. Returns and misses time in September with migraines.
Boy, I'm going to miss Cervelli, he was a rock </sarcasm>. So many bigger problems with this team, backup C isn't close to being a big one.

Agree, and I'm kinda excited having at least one young farmhand catcher on the team.....and I think Ryan could be the one....has shown - so far - to handle the bat better than Romaine.

...this just in, catchers are prone to injury...and Cervelli is no exception. But he's always given 100% every time out and plays with a fire/passion that is sadly scarce in these days of prima donnas. Just because a catcher have been hurt in the past, does not by default, mean they will also be hurt this year, just as a player who's been free of injury in the past is immune to it this year.

You bet, guys like Vizcaino, Sojo, even A. Boone, NTM-Scott Brosius, who played a good steady 3rd base, defensively all year round, but was average at best with his bat, UNTIL, Post Season rolled around. Brosius a 1st cousin of an old work buddy, seemed to become the Incredible Hulk, in October......
My definition of the epitome of a GREAT Team, is any one player, can decide the fate of the game, or be the Hero, at a spur of the moment notice. Sure I realize, a great team relies on 9 players minimum, day in and out. Even routine plays, are oft over looked, for that walk off 3 run HR. Or you get the drift....
9 players, 9 winners......anyone can contribute, and does on a Great Team....just my 3 cents, (raised from 2 for inflation).....!

Other often footnotes, of great PS Teams, who accomplish these items noted below.....
1- Leads the League with Wins; in One Run games.....
2- Has more come from behind Wins than any other Team......
3- Teams who win the majority of Extra Inning games
4- Teams often beaten on by another throughout the year, can, and do, create a NHL type of Post Season. That is, PS is a season all in itself, and anything can happen, regardless of say. Case in point, in 88, The Mets owned the Bums. NY had a 10-1 Record vs. the Bums during the Season. In the NLCS, the Mets, looked like they could not figure out who the Bums had become. The 4 Wins to 3 Loss Bums victories, and NLCS wasn't near as close as the scores implied....

I wouldn't venture to claim Cervelli, goes down or on the DL, because he's anything less than a true Hustler of a Catcher. Pete Rose behind the mask, at least thats the Charlie Hustle Cervelli brings with him to any game.
Catching is not for sissies, and your going to get hurt eventually and moreso than other position players, due to the positions grinding physical demand. With the LL don't block the plate rule, Catcher's still have to crouch, and catch every single ball/strike, et al. No doubt the most grueling of Positions day by day, pitch by pitch, blow by blow.....
NTM- Good Catcher's have their head inside the other teams hitters, has to learn their entire line up; Hitters tendencies, where they like the ball to be, and where they won't swing at a pitch. Or-where; like A-Roid, they like the ball to be, and can't hit it there, if given a phone pole....! (Alex's ignorant easy out pitch, down and away, a few inches out of the K Zone, both outside and low, lower, gopher killer.......!

I am somewhat concerned with McCann possibly going down with an injury.
