No the content of your video. I made it through about 15 minutes. It didn't keep me engaged. But i hope you guys find a good following. Good luck.
Damn, weird that it didnt work for you when it worked for everyone else I talked to. I wonder why..

We can't ask him over the internet because he'll just go look but I guarantee if you asked him in person right now he wouldn't be able to tell us what we discussed in the first 15 minutes.

What's funny is part of that we were discussing the 3 on 3 tourney and he was there and a part of the experience.

I'm sure when someone completely writes something off before watching they give it a fair chance.
Yup. Straight bashed it from the start (or maybe not "it", but a hypothetical version thats exactly like it). Bashed it based on his vast YouTube knowledge (yeah, right).

I dont mind if someone genuinely dislikes it. But man, dont start bashing before giving it a chance.

Some guys act cordial but still cant hide their grudges.

Yup. You think after all those negative things he said, thatd he'd say something neutral or positive? I don't know man. I have a hard time seeing that someone who implied that everything I'm doing will be a failure actually wants to see us succeed.

So, I mean no disrespect to you either of you guys I thought overall you did a good job. I had a few critiques though. I think the "intro" dragged on too long, ~ I assume that is just because it was your first time. My Recommendation is, Break the intro off of that episode and make that just your "Introducing ourselves" video. Then make Episode two the rest of that episode. It picked up and got better after that. My other "critique" is maybe have some tool to help you guys keep track of time, and "scheduling" it, I'm almost done with the second episode right now and it some of these really go for a while. I'm enjoying it. I think eventually these are going to be about a half-hour each?

We'll never take constructive criticism like this as disrespectful.

I agree with you that the intro was a little lengthy. We've gotten mixed feedback on this though. A lot of people want to us to talk more about us because that's how connections with the audience happens. Some people don't care to hear anything but Blazers talk and that's fine too. We just gotta balance that better. The first episode I think did need some background on us.

The trade episode was always going to be super long. Seriously it's all people want to talk about when we get questions or comments. When we settle in to normal episodes we hope to have them be about an hour. Being timely is important and we realize we need to be better with this but we also don't want to just cut a discussion off that's flowing freely because we reached an arbitrary time limit. Since it's online we don't really have to adhere to a strict time limit. This is something that will get better with experience.

Thanks for the feedback!

You didn't just describe the tourney. You also talked about your high school experience. Bones went into his college and if i remember he said something about his free throw shooting with like 22 straight to match the 7 or 8 he hit in the tourney. Looked like you were in a bedroom with Blazer jerseys behind you. No i didn't have to look kit up. I really did watch it for the first 10 to 15 mins. But think what you like.
Not sure why i'm the target here?
All i said was it isn't for me and that i wish you guys luck?

You need to get over this if you're going to do a public podcast and ask for feedback.....People started threads about Dame's music and I listened but didn't like it....and that's ok. I think you guys will figure it out...I'm happy to give some tips as a listener but not if y'all get defensive about it. ..you need to learn to manage this end of the biz....hosting is a skill and sometimes you get heckled.....the great podcasters deal with it with humor..there are going to be people who don't like your schtick....if someone wishes you well but doesn't dig your product...it's ok. Thank them for wishing you well at least.

Riverman, I really respect your opinion but you're coming in at the end of an argument here without knowing the full context.

Sounds to me like he is spot on. I am not really big on the whole You Tube thing. But i wish you guys well and you put me on blast for being ingenuous? Whatever bro.
Again. I wish you well. Yes i watched the first video for a bit. It was pretty much what i expected and i moved on. I still wish both of you all the best and i am very willing to support and even tell others about your gig. Take it how you want....

Honestly KJ, after meeting you I try to give you the benefit of the doubt because you seem like a good guy.

In this situation you poo pooed it before it even started. You don't have to listen or like it or care, it's fine, but just cut the act that you were ever going to give it a fair shot. After your previous comments it does seem disingenuous when you wish us good luck.

Since I've "known" you for so long, personally I would love to watch a video of you giving a little background about yourself before going into whatever you were talking about. Same goes for a majority of this board. Us introducing ourselves probably went on a little long but the fact you didn't listen to any of the basketball discussion and got held up on the personal stuff tells me that you just don't like us. That's fine, just don't pretend it's anything different.

To me it seems like you both took what i have said about internet media a bit personal. I maintain what i said about the venue. It's not mainstream. The original conversation was about Blazers Outsiders. Take it as you wish but that conversation wasn't even about you guys. Kind of seems like any conversation about You Tube automatically becomes a conversation about Bones/Hoops Podcast around here.

Where did this even come from? If you get this from me wishing you guys the best and hoping you enjoy your journey then i really got to wonder what is gonna happen the first time someone tells you something you don't want to hear?

Guess i'm gonna sit on the sidelines from now on and just read the responses.

Good Luck

Dude just be real. Not only did you mention YouTube, you brought up specific examples of exact arguments you've had with Bones the last year and a half at least. On top of that, your post was directly in a thread where Bones and others were discussing mainstream versus his YouTube show.

At the very least you should be aware enough to see how it looked directed at him personally.

You say people don't want a critical broadcast or too analytically based information. You say Blazers Outsiders works because they keep it positive and there is fluff. You say if things get too critical it won't succeed because the audience is limited and people will tune out. We weren't like that at all in our first episode yet you still tuned out.

It's fine, I don't expect people to spend valuable time on our little show. However, saying you didn't like it isn't the same as saying the feedback Tortured gave. I think he'd agree that I've taken his feedback without feeling it was an attack.

Topic I'd like to hear a podcast about would be loyalty...from team to staff to ownership to community...why we're so lucky to have guys who represent Portland who actually mean it and love the city, state and community......why a guy like former Blazer player Ed Davis just comes home in Portland and fits. Why a guy like Terry Porter or Steve Blake raise families here are invested here. CJ talks about it at length in interviews and on his Pull up podcast....we're a rare NBA franchise for a small market. Advice for the last podcast you guys put up.....get to the content faster and get a little more engaged with each other
By the way Riverman, I missed this post for some reason earlier.

Thanks for giving it a listen. We definitely need to do better and will continue to try and do so. I'm not very comfortable yet, ha ha.

Great idea about the loyalty topic.

Sorry Hoops you are wrong on this. Bones came into the conversation after it was started. Yes I did use conversation that has happened on this site. But please try to at least get out of your idea that those conversations were only with Bones. Just because he posted more than any other person on the site doesn’t mean he was the only person that I had conversations with. Again the conversation wasn’t about him. The one thing you will never have to worry about with me is me being real or genuine. The conversation was about Blazers Outsiders. Not only that you better go read again. I didn’t even know you guys were doing a you tube video together? I still thought he was doing his basic video breakdowns that he was doing last year. Again this site doesn’t revolve around you or Bones. Sorry dude. But the conversation wasn’t about you guys. Not sure how many times that needs to be said for either of you to understand what I was saying and meaning? Now once and for all I will say this one more time. I wish you both success in your endeavor with your podcasts or videos or whatever.
I’m on the sidelines from this point forward. No reason for me to watch or respond because apparently if I give good feedback it won’t be genuine enough and if I criticize it won’t be authentic.
Take care.

You obviously didn't read the Blazers Outsiders thread but are trying to say I didn't? Go read just the first page. You're full of shit and being fake as fuck right now.

I have no respect for people who throw obvious shade at someone but don't say their name so they can use excuses like you're doing here. I don't mind the shots but trying to act all innocent afterwards is really annoying. You have strong opinions, don't pretend you didn't say shit after the fact. I'd have much more respect if you continued backing up what you started.

I was going to suggest a couple things after watching....your laptops are too front and center and both of you watch them too much or seem like you're trying hard not to at times....I'd get them to the side of yourselves...shut off cell phones...turn facing each other when talking and face the camera directly when talking to the viewers....eye contact is important...it's apparent both of you are cell phone...laptop watchers like most of us here...this will change the whole vibe of your podcast...both of you are very knowledgeable fans...it's why many video sports shows have curved tables...nobody wants to watch somebody watching media while talking....just a tip...maybe zoom in so the computers are out of the view entirely ….the audio was well balanced

I just said that! Its not about that.

For the record, I wasnt referencing you, either. As HoopsJock says, you don't know the full context behind KJ.

I appreciate your feedback, truly do. Just gonna explain some of the dilemmas:

It was a makeshift setup since we dont plan on doing it in person. I want to build a legit looking studio I just don't have the means yet. I was using cell phones for notes (would you recommend something else?). I also have to track the recording through my laptop so having that to the side is tough. When I'm switching scenes (like it the 2nd podcast) I also have to have easy use of my laptop. Zooming in sacrifices video quality so I figured that was worse than having our laptops in the frame. Couldve definitely moved the camera up a bit.

2nd podcast was probably better from a video standpoint and worse from an audio standpoint (Our audio couldnt be tuned after recording).

100% this.

Thing is, people who didnt see this whole thing from the start dont see the full picture. They think its about us not taking criticism...

Yeah right. There will always be criticism because certain people prefer different things and you cant satisfy everyone. Also, were new, so yeah, theres a lot fo fix up, as I said in my first podcast.

So for anyone reading is, our issue with KJ is that he completely called me out in a different thread talking about how I would struggle and people wont want to watch my show, but he didnt directly name me (just referenced a hypothetical YouTube Postgame Show ran by someone who isnt a fan of Stotts...) so now he's pretending like he wasnt referencing me, all the while trying to play the nice guy and wish us luck while also doubling down on his earlier statements about people not wanting to watch us (we're not engaging).

Thanks Riverman! Our 2nd podcast from last night was much different looking as we were in different locations so there was a box on each of us without the laptops in view. Honestly, most of the time when I was looking at the computer I was watching the feed instead of looking at the camera like I should've been but I kept forgetting the camera was in a different spot. In the 2nd video I could only see Bones on the laptop so that's what I was looking at often. I'll try to get better at that. Unfortunately the audio was off in the 2nd one. It's definitely a work in progress.

With technology it's definitely a double edged sword. It's so nice to quickly look up something and get an exact number or stat or whatever but you're right we don't want to just be dependent on that or always looking like we are preoccupied.

100% not. It doesn’t matter what he said or how he said it. You have to be above it.
I'm human, and Ive met and had conversations with the guy for years. I dont think Ive said anything inherently bad. Just called out what he's doing. If I'm wrong, forgive me.

Okay because i honestly do value both you and Bones view on things i have now gone back and looked at the thread.
As you have said. Yes Bones was in the conversation. I apologize for saying he was not in it. I had forgot about this post and his responses.
Your #3 Blazers postgame show for the 2019-2020 season. ;)
It seems he was in there and i guess i can understand a bit more why you guy are responding this way. Makes more sense now that i'm reading it.
He responded pretty nice actually to my comment but it truly was never really directed toward him.
With the last paragraph, why does it seem like youre trying to reference me without actually referencing me? If you want to call me out, then call me out.

No @BonesJones you have not done anything wrong at all bro. I seriously never meant for this to touch such a nerve.

100% this.
I went back and read it now. Bones seriously that was not really directed at you. I can understand why you might think it was but it was just my overall look at what the Blazer outsiders were doing.

We get caught up in this stuff a lot.
People on this site have a little different perspective. Or at least some do. No casual Blazer fan watching a post game show after a big win is gonna want to be stuck on mundane efficiency stats and picking apart a player that had maybe 6 mins on the court and crated a couple turnovers.

That was really my only point on the original post. I just don't see how this statement has made this much fuss?
