Looking For Some "Love"ing

Leonard will not be 10m...there is way to much money out there and someone will do something stupid.

Wager?

I say he signs a contract for no more than an average of 10 mill a year. If he signs a 2 year contract and the first pays 15 and the second 5, that's still ten a year. IF you think he will get more, lets make a wager.

I think he shot himself in the foot with regards to the big contract. I see him going for a 4 year 38 mill contract. with a team option on the fourth.

Boston = Portland + loads of draft picks.

They have a lot of VERY good players, but are looking for STARS - Love qualifies. They have interest.

I think the perception that he is a star is killing him. He is getting roasted on the national sports radio shows. And has been for a while. He is a really good role player IMO, but a star?
That status might be fading.

I saw people on the Realgm trade board talking about Love to Portland for Plumlee plus a re-signed Crabbe or Aminu, then turning around and bringing in Dwight/Whiteside to be center after having some other teams absorb some other players, is that even possible?

Yep. Takes some coordination though.

Step 1 is sign Whiteside.
Step 2, sign remaining FA as desired.
Step 3, complete the trade. Love makes $21.5M next year. Blazers would then be over the cap, so they would be required to send out a minimum of $16.5M in salary (outgoing + $5M per CBA requirements) to make the trade legal. This means, Crabbe would have to be signed to at least a $14.2M ($16.5M - $2.3M for Plumlee) contract or $9.0M ($16.5M - $7.5M for Aminu) contract.

Assuming Love could make a bit of a resurgence that team would be stacked.

But would it beat GSW?

I'm losing all confidence in Love ever being part of a championship team in this current BB style of small ball that is the frenzy of the era. He has been exposed much like Meyers. But Meyers D is marginally better already and I think Leonard can shoot the three as well as Love.
I'm sorry I see it a complete backwards step if we go take on Love at 21.5 mill. We can have virtually the same thing for 10-12 in Leonard.

Wouldn't they have to wait until December 15th to trade a FA like Crabbe? And if it was a sign and trade....can you include extra players like Plumlee or Crabbe? or is it one for one?

I think Leonard's D is better against centers, but not forwards. Neither can guard spread 4's.

Positives for Love....he is still very fundamentally sound on offense. He sets solid screens , boxes out well for rebounds, great with outlet passes and can score down low.... in the right offense. Start him with Harkless, Davis, CJ and Dame........then we would have Plums, Crabbe, and Aminu off the bench.

if we could help Cleveland by taking his salary...then I would consider it. But I would not give up too much to get him.

Good catch. I forgot about that detail.

I'm just not that high on Meyers, while the Timberpups sucked, Meyers has never done what Love did there. If he got back into an offense like ours I think Love would look like a near all star level player again. His defense is absolutely dreadful though so we would need a good defensive center.

Can you imagine if Cleveland wins tonight without Love, and then loses the next two with him back? Of course there is a chance if they do happen to win tonight without him.....that they keep him out for game 4 too.

You guys might be right. He might faire better here ,but what I am seeing is scary. Looks washed up and ready to retire or something. Ohhh I got a small elbow bump on my head. Lets lay on the ground for 5 minutes. I'm sorry, but I also don't think he is as good of a screen setter or low post blocking rebounder as some think. For his size, he should be elite, but he isn't.

Not sold Rather keep Leonard and watch him blossom or go after a Ryan Anderson for 2.3's the cost.

Now if we can get him on the cheap. Okay, ill listen.

Apparently you've never had a concussion

Please please please....Go Blazers!

Colby Joyner The blazers projecting to lose a win by getting Love is what makes this perfect

Tyler Riverman Love you Bill but... STOP TRYING TO MOVE KEVIN LOVE TO THE BLAZERS!

Sincerely,
Portland

I don't get this statement. He's a fairly average-sized PF.
Also, he's had several elite rebounding years.

I mean for his size and shooting ability, he should be the next Dirk. Dirk is bigger yes, but Love supposedly has a better shot.

For his size and his touch. Yes, I think he should be elite.

Oh I have, but I wasn't even knocked down. I understand the grogginess and the doctors decision. I'm talking about him lying on the ground for 5 minutes like someone had multi fractured his shoulder and neck or something. Come on. Ive been hit way harder in the head and didn't go down. I fractured my damned skull on Lava rock when I was 9 years old. Still have a scar from it. Blood running down my face. Had a loss of memory. Don't remember the fall. Just remember waking up no the ground with blood everywhere and my sister balling. But I didn't stay their curled up in the fetal position like some wimp for 5 minutes.

I know, it may not be a popular viewpoint because I seem to have a very high threshold of pain, but I can hit myself in the head harder than he was and be just fine...

Well, I've met you. And I've conversed with you on this board for some time now. If there is one thing I do know, it's that Orion Bailey has a hard head. A big, hard head.

Regarding your accident, how do you know you didn't lie on the ground for five minutes? Weren't you knocked out?

I got a concussion playing ultimate frisbee from a spaz on the other team running into me and hitting me in the temple with his hard head (come to think of it, was that you?). I rolled up and cradled my head for what I thought was about a minute. But when I got to my feet, I found out a few of the players were pissed I was down holding up their game for like 5-10 minutes. Then I walked to the sideline as the game continued, and threw up. Not one of those geniuses thought to keep an eye on me or considered that I could drop dead at any moment. Good times.

As for Love: I've always thought he was overrated. But I'd take him for the right price. If we didn't have to give up a starter, he'd make us better. And that's normally a good thing.

Concussions are no joke. I've seen plenty of patients messed up for life in various circumstances. Calling somebody a wimp after receiving a concussion and needing some time to reorient their self to the situation is way over the top.

Well I said it wasn't a popular one, lol.

When I was knocked out, I was told I was out for about 30 seconds.

I'm not diminishing concussions or how much they can affect us long term. But a concussion in iterslf is not about pain, its about fogginess and the brain not functioninlg properly, causing equilibrium loss among other things. Yes, it is very serious and I dont dispute that at all. What I dispute is him liyong on the ground in pain as if someone put a bullet in his head.

There are MANY players in many sports that get concussions and arent even knocked down. But Love was down and out for the count. I watch the elbow he took over a dozen times. and how his head moved with the contact.

A very slight contact can create a concussion. A very hard hit might not cause a concussion. Its all on the individuals body response. With that said, he was not hit very hard and yet laid on the ground like he was shot.

Sorry. Still no love for Love.

Sounds like you just explained why he didn't get up right away haha

Sorry, not buying it. Not getting up, Sitting on the floor in a daze is much different than lying on the floor holding your head in pain.

Just because you get a concussion doesn't mean it didn't hurt.

I had a friend in Junior High get hit and get a concussion and laid on the ground for near 10 minutes.

I did not think he was a wuss.

I'm telling ya its my threshold of pain I guess. I just went out into our structural Steel shop and had a dude smack me HARd in the head. probably twice what the elbow was to Love. I laughed and told the guy who hit me that Love is weak ( he is a huge Cleveland LBJ fan).

I will say this in trying to be impartial. When you know you are going to take a hit, in general it hurts MUCH less than if it comes unannounced, which is the case for Love.

That's why fighters always say its the punch you don't see coming that hits the hardest. So with that, I will back up a bit on Love being a complete pussy. I now think he is just a marginal wuss.
