I read that he might not be getting called up for a start next week now. He's young but if the Yankees could catch lightening in a bottle with him during a late season run. Wouldn't that be huge for the rotation? A rotation that not only has the issue of Sabathia but let face it the word vulnerable comes to mind. For example is Nova going to need to be shut down at any point? The kid is 6-0 in AAA and really what else can he prove? Give him a shot. It can only help.
 
...yeah, they're definitely "vulnerable"... the decision to remove CC from the starting rotation needs to be made before any PS series, if they get that far...maybe Warren returns to a starting role.

I'd even take a veteran arm right now just to have some insurance. I realize the big name like Price aren't going to happen. Everyone is starting the conversation with Judge. Screw that for a rental. I'd rather role the dice in this years playoffs than compromise the future.

...yeah, I'm not big on Price for 2 months...but the latest is that Detroit has made it public that they're gonna "reboot" and will indeed possibly trade Price...and the Phillies have asked for Severino/Judge in return for Hamels...pass.

...but since the Dodgers went instead with acquiring Latos, maybe the asking price for Hamels or Price will fall. But the Jays are also still hot for a starter, so who knows? Knowing his history, Cashman will either do absolutely nothing or he'll get bent over in a trade. The Yanx definitely have some other trade chips to offer another team if the price is right.

...but if the Yanx are gonna get someone like Prado, fine...but if they go after a starter it needs to be a front end starter, one that you can't count on virtually every time he's pitching...another #3 or #4 is not gonna help us...we've got enough of those already.
 
A year after he won the Cy Young the Giants kept Lincecum off the playoff roster because of the bad year he was having. The Yankees need to show the same type of balls when it comes to Sabathia.
 
I kinda subscribe to the theory that the Yanks will (and historically) are going to need a very good LHSP if they are going to go very far in the post season- should they get there.
Maybe Cashman should make a bid for Price.
The last deal he made with Detroit has worked out pretty well so far.

IMO, if the Yanx want to see success beyond the ALDS, yes, they're going to need both Severino and Judge on the 40 man Roster......

I don't foresee the Yanx obtaining a Top End SP, like Price. After last year's debacles, in the Winter Meetings; to the Trade Deadlines, of both last year and this current one..........

Trashman, if he were a Poker Player, would be sitting with double Deuces, vs opposing teams, Royal Flushes, or a Full House....Trashman, has become so un-effective in the last few years, or since he arrived basically. Trashman didn't build the Team like Gene Michael did, and can't, he's not bright enough.......

IMO, Trashman has reached the point total incompetence, of No Return, AND - He's reached the pinnacle of the 'Peter Principle'.....
 
As I've already mentioned, a year after winning the Cy Young the Giants kept Lincecum off the PS roster because he was having a bad season. The Yankees have to show the same balls with Sabathia.
 
The Peter Principle:

I don't think the Yankees can win the division if they don't make those moves you suggest. The Starting Staff in my view is shaky, cannot go deep in games on a consistent basis. You worry about all teams and to date the Yankees have handled the Rays, Red Sox and Baltimore but shit can reverse in a hurry if consistency is not maintained. The most important of games (19) remain with Toronto and Baltimore. Of the division teams I think Toronto is the most dangerous. Meanwhile the GM inserts thumb up ass and spins on it. Deal for Price, heaven forbid, Dombrowski has cleaned Cashmans plow every time out.

The Yankees would really need to collapse. Lets say they go 6-7 against Toronto. Toronto gains one game but takes 13 games off the schedule. Plus, you have to take into account the games Toronto and Baltimore have left with each other. Lets not go overboard crazy here.

And I would again say they need to not only keep him off the PS roster, but also release him... he's been far from effective all season... hell, 2 or 3 years now...

1980 season Yankees had an 8.5 game lead in August. Baltimore came in swept the Yankees cutting the lead, then the Yankees came to Baltimore and lost 3 of 5. big lead gone. Shit can happen, though we hope it won't. Baltimore ended up 3 games behind the Yankees in '80 but sniveled for a playoff system because they took the season series.. I was stationed in Virginia at the time went to a couple of games in that last series.
 
This might be just the right time to bring up Severino, but since we already know that the Yankees don't have the balls to pen CC how would he fit into the rotation?
 
I've been calling for severino to be up here for weeks now but yanks won't do it because it will force their call on cc which they don't want to make yet. With pineda on the dl now and nova with some arm discomfort this is the yanks chance to get this kid up here to be our stottlemyre from the 60's run. CC tonight in 200 degree texas should be cringe inducing to say the least.
 
It doesn't force anything on CC. Pineda is going to the DL for atleast a month. They need an arm unless Warren will get his starts.
 
I've watched Severino this summer. Yankee
management have coddled this guy at AAA
..........he hasn't pitched longer than 6 innings
in any of his starts. I'm sure they had him on
a pitch count in each of his starts. He has been
super in all his stints. He has moved very fast
in the Yankee system. We shall see..................
 
It is amazing that this year's Yankee starters are all very
tenuous...........not one stands out of late. Tanaka: could
wind up on DL with the first ache in his arm;
Pineda: already with forearm problems & on 15 day IR.....
will be out at least one month; CC: a fading 'ace' never
knowing how he'll pitch in each start, worst starter ERA on staff;
Eovaldi: best starting record on team but he's gotten the best run
support on the staff, over 4.50 ERA; Nova: has been laboring
in recent games. NOT ONE 'LIGHTS OUT' STARTER.

Team will miss Pineda dearly.

Very fragile staff unfortunately. Pineda could be that first domino.
 
and now the media is chanting 'The Jays are a GO to
take down the Yankees'..........wow. Media pushing
for a Yankee take down. Last week these tabloids
picked the O's to do the dirty deed. Now it's all about
the team north of the border. How fragile are these
media fly byes?

So which is it?....and I'm not trying to be funny:

A) Trashman is a lousy poker player,

B) an idiot,

C) should have given up Judge and/or Severino for Cueto, Hamels, Price and any other possible "top player" on the market.

D) all of the above

I think the indictment is going to be that while others like the Royals, Astros and Jays made themselves much better. The Yankees decided to do nothing. I'm not saying you trade top prospects. But why waste pieces to pickup a useless 2B/RF when you need an arm?

I wasn't happy to see Flores go in a trade/package which didn't bring back a "good" player. I think he's nice little player who could be something more if he comes along and picks up his hitting.
