They're going to keep chanting it, but they really shouldn't. An MVP chant should be reserved for amazing performances only.

I don't disagree, but I'll wait for a non-amazing performance to occur before I bust anyone's chops about it.

I think +45 20/15/4/2stl with 0 turnovers and fouls is amazing.

You must have missed the "great games" part of my post.

A blowout against one of the worst teams in the league is not a great game in my opinion. No clutch time competiveness, no MVP chant for me.

OK. Just keep a look out for a flying Gladius if you go to a game and give some fan the stink eye for chanting MVP. ;)

Mike Fratello right now saying Aldridge should be in conversation for MVP. This is amazing. Especially since people actually wanted to trade him to have a chance to get a teenager who may or not be great.

He should! The way Aldridge has been playing definitely deserves mention

LaMarcus Aldridge will not win MVP, and it just comes off as desperate to chant it every night. It also loses it's magic quick if you do it all the time.

If we finish with the best record in the league, LaMarcus Aldridge will win MVP. That's how Rose won it. Be the best player on the best team. Aldridge has a very real shot at this.

we'll agree to disagree.

Was thinking the same thing. Nash won it when his team was the best in the league. Aldridge has become our rock. Without him, this start wouldn't be possible. Also, I don't think this start is a fluke. I think we may end up being the best team in basketball when all is said and done.

So what's the argument against this? I am looking for a compelling argument. The BE/SI/NBA.com/ESPN rubes keep giving me reasons why you are wrong, and I keep laughing because you aren't wrong.

They haven't chanted that before, because the Blazers have not been this good in 13 years, and LA, has only played a tough inside game for short spurts in his career. It's hard to get revved up over a jump shooting PF who doesn't rebound much and looks disinterested most of the game. These last couple weeks, he's been the best PF in the league, but he's not always played nearly this good.

It's hard to believe for most people, especially if they aren't blazer fans to begin with. I mean we only won 30 something games last season, so they didn't expect us to come out this strong.

Many have been wrong about Aldridge and his quest to have a legit center on his team. Many, including myself in this case, didn't think Matthews was our answer at SG, and many didn't think an offensive coach like Stotts could get his team to buy into a defensive strategy that is suffocating in the second half of games.

They are a thing of beauty. We have played so many styles of basketball to win ball games. Force us to play a half court slow down game, we can still over come. Force us to only score in the paint, we win as well. Force us to only shoot three, we win as well. I've seen us be able to adapt to any challenge; which makes us legit!

Portland would have to have a couple of good seasons before Lamarcus would get enough kudos to win MVP.

i disagree, nash, rose, dirk, they usually take a surprise team that is playing incredible. when there is no surprise team they default to lebron, durrant, kobe.

if we finish #1 in the west it would be hard not to consider him

I guess why I give these rubes so much shit is because I said LA needs a center, every time someone talked crap about his game and that he should play center and can't rebound or defend, and isn't even in the conversation for best PF. I've been saying he is the best PF in the NBA for a long time, because he is, and just doesn't have the pieces to compliment his game. I have been saying that Wes is a starting SG, and that Batum was worth every penny. I have been saying Stotts was a good hire from day one, if for no other reason than he will build an offense around LA like he did with Dirk in Dallas. I said Lopez would be a good fit and allow LA to take his game to the next level. These aren't crazy revelations or assumptions. It just required that you were paying attention.

These media rubes bury their heads in a stat sheet and read from cue cards. I've been arguing with these incredulous boobs for years, and the sheep who feed off their every word, and now that the crow is over flowing, these jackasses still can't seem to choke down even a bite. It's going to get worse for them, and I am laughing my happy ass off the longer they keep pushing their trash narratives.

Aldridge became the first NBA player to record 450 points, 200 rebounds and 25 steals in his team’s first 20 games since 2004, when Kevin Garnett and Dirk Nowitzki accomplished the feat. Aldridge is averaging 22.4 points and 10.0 rebounds this season and he’s scored at least 20 points 16 times —tying LeBron James and Kevin Durant for most in the NBA.

Not hard to imagine when you consider we have very few weaknesses. We beat great teams. We beat bad teams. We win at home. We on the road. We sweep back to backs. What don't we do well? Win against Phoenix in Phoenix. That's about it. Loss to Houston was fluke.
