<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">While the Nets will probably be a talented young team in 2007, there is no way they will be closer to a championship than Orlando. All of the young talent on the Magic hasn't reached it's prime yet and they still finished off last season as one of the hottest teams in league. Dwight Howard, Jameer Nelson, Darko Milicic, J.J. Redick, and Trevor Ariza is a scary starting lineup even without Vince Carter. A lot of people underate the Magic because they aren't on national television much and because they don't get the press that other teams do. There is a good chance that we will make the playoffs this year and they might even have a higher seed than the Nets if guys like Darko and Redick pan out.</div>
Well I wasn't going to say that the Nets had more talent than Orlando, just that there is a good future for this team as well. Dwight is one of the top 3 most talented players in this league (I'd say LeBron, Dwight, and Amare) and is a sure-fire superstar if he gains consistent post moves. But our future is not so shabby with RJ, Nenad, Marcus Williams. That's an excellent core that VC will play with for atleast one more season and could sway him to stay. If Boone turns out to be consistent, which I have my serious doubts on, then the better. However, you are right to say that the Magic have a way better future as of now.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I agree with everything you said until the last line. How can you say Marcus Williams is going to be better than Jameer Nelson? Williams has never stepped onto an NBA court and if you're basing it off of their college performances, then obviously Jameer wins because he was the Naismith player of the year in 2004. It's too early to judge who will be better.</div>
I'm not 100%, but I'm pretty sure. Just like I was sure that Chris Paul, Felton, Deron Williams, were going to be better than Jameer before they stepped on an NBA floor. Potential. Even when Jameer had better college career than all of them, though Deron's magic season could be comparable. Jameer, despite being rugged and having good work ethic and competitive fire, doesn' thave the ceiling that Marcus has. He's undersized and doesn't have blinding quickness. He's strong, rugged, and smart, which will get him a solid to good player. The thing holding Marcus back is his head. Though he has great vision, he breaks down in the clutch and is either the hero or the reason they lose..but I think under Jason he'll become a good to great player.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Another reason Vince would want to come to Florida is because he grew up here and his family is all here.</div>
This is true, but it could also be a reason he doesn't want to be there. Tracy forced out even though his family is there. Tim Thomas has said he didn't want to go back to Jersey. Andre Miller said he didn't want to be in Utah cause his friends and family would distract him. Steve Francis didn't want to return home to Maryland/DC Area back when he was on Houston. It can and it cannot work. It depends on the guy.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">e will have enough money to sign all of these players because of the Steve Francis deal we made midway through last season.</div>
A lot of money does come off next season when Hill's, Battie's, and Garrity's contract comes off, but Orlando intends to sign someone big this summer. Penny's came off so they are in a good situation. Like I said before though, Vince can get the most money in New Jersey since they have his Bird's rights. So if money is the issue, he'll stay here.
