they overvalue his good shooting percentages? which statistical measures do this now?

All stats that include shooting. For example PER, but not rebounding efficiency.

In these semi-daily Batum threads, people say that Batum is not easily replaceable because of his...then they cite an exotic stat. I'm saying that his high shooting percentages may make him look Top 10 in the league in certain modern stats, but they're high because he is unaggressive about looking to shoot, and instead carefully conserves his opportunities. This makes some better SFs rank lower than him in the newfangled shooting stats.

these newfangled stats dont pass the "eye test"!

im going to name sfs better than him off the top of my head

lebron
durant
carmelo
paul pierce
danny granger maybe
iggy

you see a common trend here? these guys make an average of 17 million dollars a year

For $10-11M, I'd like to see him win us some games, and I don't remember any. He's replaceable by a selfish $4M good shooter who goes clutch at game ends.

We should sign him, pressure him to step it up, and if he can't, which I expect, trade him at the February deadline.

yes, when steve blake makes a game winning 3 pointer, that equals 1 win share

such as?

So he's replaceable by Jamal Crawford....except for the version that played for the Blazers?

haha i thought the exact same thing, except he said GOOD shooter, and uh, JC shot .384 last year...money from the ft line though!

Listening to some NY radio...

They think if a team (Portland?) backloaded a contract to Lin he's as good as gone.

bring in dantoni and lin, fuck it, lets get this motherfuckin lights out joint poppin off like whoa

Lin has a lot of potential. He showed he has legit playmaking skills and can shoot well.

Though, I'd still go after Kendall Marshall first but Lin is not a bad option.

The Lin situation was a great story, but it's over. Advanced scouts figured his game out. No thanks.

When will China start producing black players?

That's when it'll be all over for the U.S.

Without Batum they could get creative and trade a pick (or both?) for an established younger player like Rondo and absorb the salary.

If we let Nic walk that'll leave about $25m in cap space to spend?

Maybe then make a run at Brook Lopez. Now these are the type of moves that we need to make to vault this team back into respectability.

But a Rondo/Batum off-season would be great as well.
That would be insane, trade both our picks for him would mean 6m off of our cap so with batums caphold that leaves us with 8m I believe to use before we have to resign Batum.
