Marbury wants to say goodbye soon

New York has too many scorers who demand the ball (Marbury, J. Rose, Frye, Robinson, Q. Richardson, Francis, and Crawford) they really need to get rid of some of them, because I think players will get disgruntled with the amount of shots that they are taking - single digits.

Truth. It's really hard putting a trade package together involving Marbury. It's even more difficult because the Knicks don't have a 1st Rounder in the upcoming draft, and will likely swap with Chicago in 2007.

In order for the Knicks to trade Marbury, they'll have to sweeten the deal by giving up Frye.

They will also have to take back some ugly contracts.

The only team I can possibly think of going for broke is Minnesota. They might try one last time to win with KG by reuniting him with Marbury.

Jaric - Blount - Hudson would work for salary purposes, I don't see much else out there.

There's always at least one team desperate enough to take on a troubled player like Marbury every summer. This summer the team is Minnesota. The Knicks could trade Marbury for Marko Jaric, Troy Hudson, Trenton Hassell and Rashad McCants along with their first round pick and a future first rounder. The T wolves will do practically anything to keep Garnett happy and get him some help. The contracts of the T wolves players are horrible(Rashad McCants and Marko Jaric are the only players who might be worth his contract)but Knicks could use the picks to rebuild.


Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.

FACT :Nate Robinson is probably the LEAST likely Knick to be traded. David Lee is probably the 3rd LEAST likely...

Q Rich, Robinson, Crawford, Fyre do no not demand the ball, watch the Knicks play.

Fyre only gets the ball when he has an open shot, same with Crawford, Richardson, and Nate Robinson, they all play off the ball, unless Marbury, Francis, or Rose isn't in the game.

I agree with everything else though. Jaric Blount Hudson could work...but thats some depth the Wolves would be giving up for a troubled player like Marbury. Still it could happen.

McCants and two first round picks for Marbury? Minny isn't that stupid, they want to win with KG, Marbury = losses.

If you saw the rest of my trade proposal you'd agree that it is more than fair considering the Knicks will also be getting Troy Hudson, Marko Jaric and Trenton Hassell. All of whom have at least 4 years left on their contracts(Jaric has five!) and none of them are worth the money with the possible exception of Jaric. The T wolves will be getting a much better player than the ones their giving up, a shorter contract and a smile on Garnett's face. Kevin Garnett, Stephon Marbury and Ricky Davis would make a very nice 1-2-3 punch I think. Marbury might equal losses but the T wolves are losing right now so what do they have to lose?

If Minnesota tries to trade Garnett over the summer their almost certainly not going to get anything close to equal value back(Example: Shaquille O'neal trade and Vince Carter trade). So considering the T wolves are getting the best player in the deal as well as getting rid of mediocre players with bad contracts I dont think it's unreasonable for the Knicks to get a couple of draft picks and a young player in return.


Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.

everyone's entitled to their opinions but i'm of the opinion that Mccants and 2 first rounders is far far to much for Marbury. Even though the Knicks are taking back equal salary that is under contract for as long or longer I could see a Mccants, Hudson, Blount for Marbury deal going down, i'm certain that the Twolves would quickly sour on the deal if Thomas demanded 2 first rounders.

The first rounders are the only thing that makes the trade acceptable for the Knicks. The Knicks arent getting anything else out of the trade. Hudson, Blount and Hassell are all mediocre players with bad contracts while Jaric seems like a nice player but also has a not so great contract. Why would the Knicks trade Marbury for more mediocrity and more years? They'd be even worse off than they are now. The Knicks would be better off having Marbury sit at home for the rest of his contract than take on Hudson, Blount and/or Hassell. Besides I'm not sure what other direction Minnesota can go in. They can miss the playoffs again next year and continue to waste Kevin Garnett or get Marbury and go somewhere. I guess it all depends on how badly the Wolves want to win.


Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.

I personally didnt suggest Hassell, i said Hudson Blount and Mccants.
I dont know, i think the Knicks could use a total change. One or two new players wont do a thing...bringing in Jaric, Blount and Mccants would give you a servicable back up big man so you can go and try to trade James for ANYTHING. Jaric's a solid backup to Steve Francis. Mccants lets you trade Crawford while he still has some value. The Knicks absolutely need to trade most of their players. Not to increase the skill on the team...they cant do that, the skill will actually go down by a long way. But you guys need to do it for chemistry and for a change, the team is stagnant. The Knicks NEED to go back to that hard working team label they had a few years back. Even though they werent the most skilled, they were gritty, smart, played hard.
IMO thats a much better label than being a team of prima donna's.

Besides the group of Frye, Lee, Nate Robinson and Mccants is damn nice. Mccants and his future is reason enough to rid yourself of Marbury, the other guys are just solid backups and salary space to make the trade work.

Minnesota owes the Clippers their draft pick from the Marko Jaric trade, so I don't think they can include the pick. The pick is Top-10 protected until 2011.

Jaric + Blount + McCants + Hassell for Marbury

I think this trade would be similar to what the Kings did with Chris Webber. They took three smaller contracts and unloaded CWebb's large deal. Their GM felt it would be easier to trade three smaller contracts to improve their team in the near future.

If the Knicks got involved in this deal they would have to cut two players or make another trade.

If they cut 2 players it's likely going to be Qyntel Woods & Jackie Butler.

The Knicks would also look for more trades with the expiring contracts of Jalen Rose and Mo Taylor to make room for their draft picks.
