No. I don't follow NCAA or Euro ball.

okay, so I take it that you would prefer an assistant coach from college ball or Europe? I just think it would be best to look for someone with some actual head coaching experience or at minimum an assistant coach from the pros if the Blazers ever choose to get a new coach.

assists are a stat that is often misused and misunderstood as it isn't a single player stat even though it is listed as one. I see it more as a team stat. I make a very basic pass to a shooter and he makes it, I get an assist. I can make a spectacular pass to a shooter and he misses and I get nothing.
This is the opposite end of the Allen Crabbe discussion: he’s paid because he makes shots; he’s overpaid because all those shots are catch and shoot shots. But when your primary scorers are also your primary ball handlers, every time they pass the ball, it needs to be to a better shooter than them, or the shot quality will always go down as the play goes on.

Defenses understand all they need to do is double the ball handler and the chances of the Blazers scoring goes steadily downward because the other guys on the court aren’t natural shooters from distance or off the catch.

A perfect Blazers lineup would be Dame or CJ, a rebounding center, and three 3+D guys who are actually good at the 3 and the D parts.

You also have to have guys that can create their own shot, dribble and pass. Lillard and McCollum and Napier to a much smaller extent are really the only ones we have. A ball handling small forward would go a long ways towards defeating the double and triple teaming of Lillard.

My only real preference is not recycling through the current crop of mediocre NBA coaches. Whether it's a current NBA assistant, or an NCAA/Euro head/assistant, or some smart dude (or lady!) from the film room or broadcasting booth, I really don't care.

So I've been out for a few weeks getting my computer worked on (VERY expensive and torturing....not an experience I want to go through again), and I just got it back today; new hard drive and all.

So now that I'm back, someone update me as to why Stotts is still coach. What the hell is wrong with Paul Allen? Is he that naive?

The reason? Paul Allen owns the team, Simple as that. You not wanting Stotts as coach is really irrelevant.

I really dislike the disrespect you post with. Quit telling people their opinions are irrelevant.

I really don't give a shit what you like or dislike. Don't like it, don't read it. It wasn't even posted to you so F off.

How do I know I don't like it unless I read it? How can I un-read it? It was posted to forum. I'm a part of the forum. So it was posted to me. Quit being an ass to everyone.

Stotts is still here

So you're the new asshole on S2, huh?

Are we ever trusting Stein again?

Is he the new Broussard? What kind of sauces does Stein have?

He said there were murmurs in the coaching circles... very well could have been.

I'd be very interested to know what other NBA coaches thought of playoff Stotts. It appeared that playoff Rondo out gunned him

Yup. I passed the drama-torch to him. He turned it into a bonfire.

Meh, I never thought of you as an asshole. If anything, I appreciate you keeping @KingSpeed in line. I would do it myself, but he blocked me last season.

So basically......next year is going to be the same ol' shit, unless we make some major changes at GM, and add an All Star-caliber wing. Stotts still won't learn how to do a proper timeout, and unless Dame shows up in the playoffs, we'll be a first round exit. Again.

Pretty accurate?

It kind of feels like the Colts when they brought Pagano back when everyone thought he was getting fired last offseason. He did get fired this offseason, that's the way it feels with Stotts for next season.

Does this mean we go for a Spurs hot shot assistant? Only for said assistant to accept job then back out and return to be heir apparent of the Spurs franchise?

A coaching change would just be shuffling the deck chairs and not addressing the leaky D and lack of enough perimeter threats. Hopefully Zach adds strength and confidence to blossom in year 2... they need him to deserve a bigger role. Hopefully the humiliation vs NO lights a fire in Nurk to focus on his game as he's obviously still some major things that he could improve on. That he's just about to turn 24 gives hope that maturity will bring that focus. But they truly need to add a long versatile SF who can defend and lace jumpers. That should be the clear offseason focus for who ever the GM is.

STOMP

Wow, so this is what it's like to have a coach that has the ability to make adjustments.....
To me it was just about Houston being hot. It’s a make or miss league and all of their role players were hot on the same night meanwhile, GS outside of Durant were pretty bad. I still think GS is gonna win this series in 6.

The players were able to shoot better because they had open shots. In the first game, Harden and Paul were dribbling the shot clock out and making passes late forcing players to jack up shots against the clock. This game they pushed the ball more and noticeably made more cuts. They got away from the Harden/Paul and Capela pick and rolls.

I soooooo hate that phrase (and anything else Marc Jackson repeats relentlessly). What league isn't??
Pop said that before Marc Jackson as far as I know. Sometimes it’s pretty fitting and I think in this series it’s going to be really fitting. They both take so many 3’s the team making them that night is going to win by a wide margin. We may get a game where both teams are making them. With the popularity of the 3 pointer I feel like it’s truer than ever, it’s why there seems to be so many huge swings in every game.
