Is there something in the new testament that says disregard everything in the old?

Yes, I think you could say that is the essence of the teaching of Jesus. But then, no where is it said directly in the New Testament.
Correction, not everything, but obviously those things in conflict with the teachings of Jesus.

So if there was an old testament that became irrelevant because of a new testament . . . does the new one become irrelevant if a newer testament comes out?

That would be the koran.

Not quite. Perhaps in timing only but the Koran more or less brings forward in time much of the ways of the Old Testament and pretty much ignores the teaching of Jesus while downgrading him to prophet status with
Abraham, and Moses. Mohammad is the equivalent of Jesus in Islam, but perhaps not quite god. It seems to me that the teaching of Mohammad are the most intolerant of any religion with many many ways to be intolerant of the non believer.

You say you are an atheist, and I say, I am I admirer the Christians (also the Buddhist, Jews, and Hindus) but I am not a Christian, can't pass the test. I wonder how far apart we really are? Study brought me closer to my place but not to the finish line. Never could be quite be the atheist either, too much faith required.

Sly, the answer is no, you may not marry your donkey so you can hump her. Beastiality is a sin in Gods eyes.

Wow. This thread has been around for 9 hours, and you still haven't sucked in anyone to argue that the whole Noah and the Flood story was the literal truth, rather than a parable.

I saw the movie, it's all true.

For those that say the old testament doesnt matter, only the new, I say good, you don't really believe god wrote either book.
