Nice Carlton Banks look. I wish Marty nothing but the best; I always liked him. I really hope he has 78 great games a year.

Actually it should be "OT: Martell Webster Introduced". :)

I look forward to watching Nic and Marty go at it. That will be fun, to see how Webster reacts to the guy who took his job.

"the fans are great here."

Heh. He must have meant all the Blazers fans that head out to the Target Center.

Good Luck, Martell!

Minnesota's going to love having you there.

With Kevin Love and some of the other young talent there, your "veteran" presence will help them out a lot. Your excellent Defense is sorely needed there.

He definitely has a nice, charming media manner. I hope he does well. He seems like the classic "needs a change of scenery" type of guy. Hopefully he can find whatever it is he needs to progress in Minnesota.

Wolf GM Kahn targeted Webster last spring, noticing that he plays better per minute when he gets 30+ minutes. He expects him to start at the 2. Blazer experience, of course, is that Webster has defensive problems there and can't dribble well. Another board says, here's what Webster has done in games of 30+ minutes:

07-08 season

Whole season: 10.7 PPG, 42.2 FG%, 1.6 3PT, 38.8 3PT%, 4 RPG, 1.2 APG

30 or more minutes: (32 games) 13.7 PPG, 45.1 FG%, 2.1 3PT, 40.4 3PT%, 5.1 RPG, 1.2 APG

09-10 season

Whole season: 9.4 PPG, 40.5 FG%, 1.5 3PT, 37.4 3PT%, 3.3 RPG, 0.8 APG

30 or more minutes: (30 games) 16.2 PPG, 45.5 FG%, 2.8 3PT, 42.0 3PT%, 5.2 RPG, 1.2 APG

Argument against: It's no surprise that a player is more efficient in games with more minutes, because the reason he gets more minutes is that his shot is falling early on. If he is struggling, he gets fewer minutes. More minutes don't cause more efficiency, more efficiency causes more minutes.

In Martell's case I really think he is a rhythm, volume shooter, he's not an off-the-bench sparkplug, he's a a guy who needs plays called for him and he needs lots of shots. I wish him well in Minny, but he wasn't going to get the touches he needed here to perform at peak efficiency.

jlprk, can you please find the stats for Nic when he plays 30 mins or more from this past season?

(is there a site where these stats can be found, or did you go through his gamelog and compiled the numbers?)

I agree, and it was a tragic flaw. He wasn't good enough, IMO, to start and yet he wasn't able to perform well off the bench. What he was good enough to do, he couldn't do. What he could do, he wasn't good enough to do.

I hope that changes and he either becomes good enough to start in the league or else he discovers how to play well off the bench.

You must be crazy. Nic NEVER plays 30 minutes a game

FYI, check basketball-reference.com and click on splits

Better yet, check this link: http://www.basketball-reference.com...&c3val=&c4stat=&c4comp=gt&c4val=&order_by=pts

Thanks.

Interesting to note that he didn't even play 30 mins during his 31-7-7 game @ Minny.
