I bet that will be his "message" or some shit. Many injured were children.

sounds like his hero growing up was Bane. Description says he was wearing a gas mask and a bullet proof vest.

This is depressing and extremely unsettling. No jokes appropriate.

What's really sad is that 12 people are dead, and yet the first thing some people do is start arguing over gun control. This is a sad tragedy.

I've been to that theatre. Aurora is equivalent to Gresham, both in terms of geography and demographics. Denver still lives with the specter of Columbine (my neighbor's grandson, Patrick Ireland, was shot in that incident and still walks with a limp). This incident surpasses that unspeakable horror.

Believe it or not, in a way the victims were lucky. Two years ago, the University of Colorado Medical Center (Colorado's OHSU) and Children's Hospital (Colorado's Doernbecher) moved from my neighborhood just SE of downtown out near where the shootings were. It cut the transit time for those people by 20-30 minutes and enabled much more rapid care.

the culture of violence in colorado is appalling

Is that really true? I mean, aside from the two infamous shootings when I've visited Denver, people were very friendly- even in a part of town I warned about.

Aurora is much more upscale than Gresham.

I've been to Aurora before. Right by the airport. Reminded me of like Hillsboro or something with all kinds of strip malls. Wasn't the shithole that Gresham has become.

Who brings a 4 month old to the movies, and who brings a 4 year old to see Dark Knight?

Agree wholeheartedly. A simple whitepages.com search in Aurora shows 2 James Holmes with landlines and very few people in their 20's even have landlines in today's cellphone society. And young people tend to move around quite a bit, not being homeowners.

Making the Hell's Canyon-sized leap to the Tea Party or gun ownership as the cause of the mass murder shows a total lack of journalistic integrity and a mind-boggling ignorance of the causes of mental illness.

But seriously - what's with Colorado? Spare me the Michael Moore Lockheed bullshit. There's something else going on there.....It's interesting that both the Columbine and Theater incident involved nerdy white guys that were essentially playing make believe. Trench Coat Mafia? A dude in a riot helmet, kevlar and tear gas canisters? So strange.

Warner Bros. pulled the trailer for the film "Gangster Squad," which had been running before showings of "The Dark Knight Rises." That film trailer features scenes of men armed with machine guns attacking a movie theater. A representative for the company told CNN that Warner Bros. did not plan to cancel any screenings.
Thelma Adams, contributing editor for Yahoo Movies, said the tragedy poses a conundrum for the studio.
"I know people at Warner Bros. who were called and woken up this morning who now have a huge problem on their hands," she said. "I think in the long run, a lot of the money is made globally with a movie like this and that will not have an impact."

Youtube is starting to delete the trailers for "Gangster Squad" from their website because of the similar theater shooting in the film. However there are a few trailers on youtub that still have the trailer.

What's so fucked is that DKR would have probably grossed one of the biggest opening weekends ever. Now it's faced with being the reason our entire country has to re-evaluate itself and what is considered safe and what isn't. Sucks.

Mental illness, and illnesses in general spike when the economy tanks. I blame Bush.

Over 860 people have died today (40 minutes) of starvation today. Death always sucks. Talking about a movie or anything else takes nothing away from that.
