Mass shooting at batman premier

What's so fucked is that DKR would have probably grossed one of the biggest opening weekends ever. Now it's faced with being the reason our entire country has to re-evaluate itself and what is considered safe and what isn't. Sucks.

But seriously - what's with Colorado? Spare me the Michael Moore Lockheed bullshit. There's something else going on there.....It's interesting that both the Columbine and Theater incident involved nerdy white guys that were essentially playing make believe. Trench Coat Mafia? A dude in a riot helmet, kevlar and tear gas canisters? So strange.

Was wondering the same thing. Hearing from the older folk, Colorado sounds like a peaceful and gorgeous place to live or retire to. But it's odd that both of these shootings came from young adults. Makes me wonder if it is just too much of a boring place for a kid with a weak mind to grow up in.

mcmansion life.

If you have never read Columbine, I highly recommend it. It's very thoroughly researched and gives you a taste of how the media twists stories and the motives for Eric and Dylan to murder their classmates and teachers. Basically Eric was a psychopath and Dylan was depressed and suicidal and saw the Columbine massacre as a way to end his life. Mental illness is the only way to explain these kinds of actions.

Yes but were they born with mental illness or was it gradual is what I'm implying.

Here is a little snippet of what Marylin Manson wrote after Columbine, it still relates to this:

Columbine: Whose Fault Is It?

by Marilyn Manson

It is sad to think that the first few people on earth needed no books, movies, games or music to inspire cold-blooded murder. The day that Cain bashed his brother Abel's brains in, the only motivation he needed was his own human disposition to violence. Whether you interpret the Bible as literature or as the final word of whatever God may be, Christianity has given us an image of death and sexuality that we have based our culture around. A half-naked dead man hangs in most homes and around our necks, and we have just taken that for granted all our lives. Is it a symbol of hope or hopelessness? The world's most famous murder-suicide was also the birth of the death icon -- the blueprint for celebrity. Unfortunately, for all of their inspiring morality, nowhere in the Gospels is intelligence praised as a virtue.

A lot of people forget or never realize that I started my band as a criticism of these very issues of despair and hypocrisy. The name Marilyn Manson has never celebrated the sad fact that America puts killers on the cover of Time magazine, giving them as much notoriety as our favorite movie stars. From Jesse James to Charles Manson, the media, since their inception, have turned criminals into folk heroes. They just created two new ones when they plastered those dipshits Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris' pictures on the front of every newspaper. Don't be surprised if every kid who gets pushed around has two new idols.

I think for Eric, a true sociopath, he must have not had attachment as a young infant. For Dylan, who knows.

This rhyme always spoke to me.

Eminem said:
When a dude's gettin bullied and shoots up his school
And they blame it on Marilyn (on Marilyn)... and the heroin
Where were the parents at? And look where it's at
Middle America, now it's a tragedy
Now it's so sad to see, an upper class ci-ty

I liked this part of the Marilyn Manson interview during Bowling for Columbine

Bowling for Columbine said:
Michael Moore: If you were to talk directly to the kids at Columbine or the people in that community, what would you say to them if they were here right now?
Marilyn Manson: I wouldn't say a single word to them I would listen to what they have to say, and that's what no one did.

Over the years we have paid less and less attention to mental health and clinics/institutions and such. States and the feds have focused money more and more away from it and towards other things.

Gee, I wonder why that happened. There's not any group that complains loudly about spending on social services, is there?

Who brings a 4 month old to the movies, and who brings a 4 year old to see Dark Knight?

The type of guy who will leave them to fend for themselves when a psycho starts shooting up the theater.

our country loves to invade and kill the people of other countries and our own, and has for hundreds of years

america is addicted to war, its young ASKED to kill for profit, and we are surprised when someone goes overboard

aint the first, aint gonna be the last

It started in the Carter administration and has continued thru pretty much all of them. It's also a state problem. I know Oregon has reduced spending for mental health.

I know that being a lefty sheep you're straining anyway you can to blame this all on the right and politicize it, but I think you're proving out why people who are so blinded by their party partisanship are the problem and not part of the solution. I also might add I think it's pretty low down thinking to blame things like this on a political party. But, you have to follow your political party dogma to the bitter end. "Oh hell", you think, "everyone who's not far left stinks and causes all the problems in the world. Everyone but us." Well, stick to your thinking. It's why we have the problems we do.

Makes me wonder how the hell you became a mod.

He was a mod, then he quit being a mod, then he whined until he got his old mod "job" back.

He only did it so I couldn't have him on Ignore anymore. That's been well-established, given his avatar and him generally being one of the more worthless members of the community when not moderating.

Gee, BP, you seem kind of defensive. Did you maybe think I was talking about you? I guess if you've been wearing the shoes for years, we can assume they fit pretty well.

And sooner or later, I'll die of old age. And then I'll come back from the grave to haunt you.

You must be in a good mood today, PapaG. 'one of the more worthless members' is probably the nicest thing you've ever said about me!

With all of our past, you're still more qualified to moderate than NateBishop, which should make all of us take a step back and pause for a moment.

The problem didn't start with reductions in social services.

It started with Reagan doubling and tripling the taxes of the common man while destroying the unions and decimating the incomes of said common man.

The result is a huge increase in broken lives which the system was never designed to handle. I'd like to see Obama declare a state of emergency as a way to instill true socialized healthcare. Not sure why nobody has ever thought about it.

Not sure why you have problems with the mods. They seem almost benign to me and any Real American should like that respect for Free Speech.

But then, I've never had a loaded avatar pointed at me. Loaded guns, yes. But never a loaded avatar.

What makes me a good mod is that I proudly admit that I'm terrible at it.

yup :smiley-serious: violence is part of our nature and American culture celebrates it. I don't think there are any easy answers

I'm glad they got the shooter alive as I want to hear his story. Did he just snap or what the fuck? Telling the worst news is better then not having any resolution at all.

Yes, free speech often entails figures of authority subjectively deciding what should and should not be allowed to be seen or read by others.

You're a nice little fascist. :)
