the Toronto bit was late in Hakeems career.
It was at the very end. I think it was his last year in the league.
You owe me 100 bucks, because we bet on this. Pay up, or I'm going to start texting you.
Are we overachieving at the expense of having any shot at a championship in the future though?
Conventional thinking says we need another star to contend. Is that star Meyers, Noah, a future middle of the draft pick, or free agent signing?
Yeh, that makes some sense; did anyone read the book?Maybe Clyde is who Houston wanted for Hakeem?
And there is the rub.
Dame/CJ/Crabbe has emerged as a decent backcourt. Plums, Davis, and Aminu would be a good second string - but none of them are more than "good" players. Harkless and Alexander have shown no development. Leonard is what he is. Vonleh doesn't look like a starter on a contender - let alone a "star".
Unlike some of you, I believe Stotts has done an incredible job with this bunch. This team needs a major influx of talent along the front line to become a contender. This is as good as it gets with the current roster!
Does Neil Olshey go to the bargain clearance rack at a clothing store and walk out with an Armani suit perfectly tailored for $150? His free agency signings (Davis, Aminu, etc.) have been tremendous value.
Allen wrote that former coach Rick Adelman "tied our younger players to the bench and stuck with the tight rotation of veterans who had gotten us to the Finals." He had much harsher words for former general manager Bob Whitsitt, who presided over a controversial, expensive era -- with Allen's backing. Both desperately wanted to win a title, and Allen wrote that he finally gave up on Whitsitt's approach when Whitsitt told him "half our guys are normal and half our guys are crazy. The good guys are all freaked out, but the crazy guys are crazy, so they're fine."
IF the bulk of players improvements were made in the first half of the first season of their careers...Nevermind. This is so far fetched not even worth trying to oppose...[/QUOTE said:Of the players I listed, only Alexander is in the first half of his rookie season.
You can argue that Vonleh has had limited opportunity....but every other player I mentioned has had ample chance to prove themselves. At some point you just have to admit that WYSIWYG. And before you launch into the "you're always negative" argument - keep in mind that before the season I was picking Plumlee to have a breakout year. There is no shame in admitting an optimistic prediction was wrong. It's just part of being a fan.
It is quite funny how fast people's opinions change. I remember when a bunch of us and basically every other fan base thought we overpaid for animu. But it's obviously a bargain now and will be a tremendous bargain next year with the cap going up.
In Olshey we trust
I don't see how he's a "tremendous bargain". I still say he's a good bench player or a mediocre starter.
Just over half a season for a bunch of new guys who haven't played together before and most are getting their first real shot and you think this is as good as it gets?
Really?
Wow....
IF the bulk of players improvements were made in the first half of the first season of their careers...Nevermind. This is so far fetched not even worth trying to oppose...
Batum is so much better than Aminu...Is he cheaper than Batum who is exactly the same thing?
jlprk...."Etc." is a wording to make something seem like more than it is.
Seems to me that etc is a word for things that seem less than the headliners...
Concert tonight! Featuring Elvis, Muddy Waters, Ray Charles and etc.......I've been in a few of the "etc" bands and it's not a compliment
PotentiallyBatum is so much better than Aminu...

Batum is so much better than Aminu...
Potentially![]()
Bingo. A focused, motivated Batum is the superior player. We rarely saw that guy, even though he was making twice as much as Aminu. Chalk up another one to the curse of the Blazerverse.
I agree with that only if we actually do something with that 11 mil left over. If it's used for a player called, "Capspace," I don't care. I'd rather have Nic.I'll take Aminu at $7.5mil over Batum at $18mil+ plus.
Batum is so much better than Aminu...
This and the fact that Aminu is a year younger than Lillard and 4-5 years younger than Batum...Aminu wants to be allnba defensive team..Batum wants to be an assist leader...right now, Aminu outrebounds Nic...probably shoots better from deep than Nic did last season and held Lebron to 11 pts...a season low no other SF has accomplished yet...matched up with Nic Aminu won the battle with a double double...Nic ended up with 3 pts..Aminu to me is an upgrade and will just get better and better..Batum hasn't been the same the last 2 years. His numbers suck this year (go look it up, its ugly) just like they did last year he had a cute little hot start this season but since like late NOV hes stinking it up pretty bad. PRODUCTION WISE CORRELATED TO THE DOLLAR FIGURE he was getting, its what you call overpaid for Batum. Aminu on the other hand gives u the same defense, same shooting, slightly more rbs all for nearly half the price. Batum has him beat on passing but we have Lillard and CJ for that.
Besides every single year Batum has some sort of excuse for his numbers sucking. "I'm tired from playing for my country", One year its his shoulder, last year it was my wrist hurts, now his new one this year is my big toe is hurting, quite frankly Batum is overrated and god bless the team that will pay him big money with the new cap going up.. I'll take Aminu for 4 years and the equivalent of 4M/yr we paid him this summer with new cap coming into play.

Nic has a soccer type game that is really beautiful to watch...he's one of the most talented guys in the league but in my view...once he got a big paycheck, he tended to cruise and most games just do enough to get by. He used to be my favorite blazer and I've argued his value for years...now, not so muchI can see why people gets gamed up with Batum though. His style looks so flawless and beautiful, I can totally see the fascination with him that his fans drool over. And I agree it does look nice, we use to look at those traits and scream "OMG LOOK AT HIS POTENTIAL".. But nearly 10 years later the guy hasn't done anything more than piss people off with his inconsistency.
I agree with that only if we actually do something with that 11 mil left over. If it's used for a player called, "Capspace," I don't care. I'd rather have Nic.
I would definitely make that trade.Batum+Mathews for CJ+Hendo+Aminu+Vonleh
Something like that.
Matthews is shooting .380 from the field and has a PER of 11.
I would definitely make that trade.
The thing that really hurts us is no Aldridge. We need a high scoring big.
If we still had Aldridge we would probably be 3-5th seed
