Matts: Nice work! >>>>>> Your intel would be worth 7 hours pay in a municipality. You put a lot of work into this. Always great posts.^^^^....
Thanx 59 I appreciate this...
(the tip of Cap emojis not working, so tip of the cap 2U)
I attended a game at Old Toronto exhibition Stadium June of 87.
Mattingly with a grand salami & 5 Rbi's
Winfield with a 2 out grand slam; and a two-run home run. 6 Rbi's...
Yanx 15- Jays 14
Pags with 2 run HR
Rags pitched the 8th & 9th to get the Win...
The 87 team often got their hits with 2 outs & RISP...
Winfield & Mattingly fed off of each other...
Xlnt videos. Donnie at times hit at will, when the game was on the line he often delivered. Was a vacum cleaner in thunder Alley. Had some phenomenal yrs.
A true leader on & off the field.
If only he'd of never injured his back.

59, thanks for putting up those great videos. I became a yankee fan when my next door neighbor was nice enough to take this 6 year old to see his first game in 1961....Yanks versus L.A angels at the time. The yanks won 3-1 and mantle and maris both went deep. My memory besides that was a fat guy 4 rows back smoking a stinking cigar and yelling "Maris your a bum". In all those years since and now my favorite player was Don Mattingly. It still burns my ass that Puckett is in the hall of fame and he isn't. Puckett never had a 6 year stretch 84-89 when he was considered the best player in the game. 9 gold glove, 1 mvp in 85 and he got screwed out of the mvp in 84, and batted over .400 in his only playoff appearance and lifetime .311 average. Very deserving and I hope the veteran committee or whatever they are called these days put him in down the line. His stats and pucketts are very compatible.
I remember a discussion with a Cardinal Fan over who was better Hernandez or Mattingly. It's got heated up to the point where people listening thought we were going to throw down over it. The guy ended up in a rage telling me I was a Yankees Fan not a Baseball Fan. Of my four favorite Yankee Fist Baseman that I saw play, Mattingly was top dog. Loved to see that guy come to the dish because good shit was going to happen.
