The Blazers could only win 48 games next year and be a 6-8 seed
Who's confident Aldridge re-signs if that happens?
And that wouldn't be a "bad" year either

Why did you ignore the second half of my post?
There are two sides to this, if you believe that LA is willing to stay and sign a 4-5 year deal after this season then trading him because he wants extra money would be foolish.
If you are in the camp that believes LA wants to return to Dallas make max money and pay no income tax then dealing the guy for assets before he leaves for nothing is a good decision.

Dirk didn't make the max at 34.
You're asking the guy to give up close to $50m dollars. That's easy to say when you have nothing invested, other than dumb ideas, but trade him for not accepting the 3-year after a 54-win season and you'll be laughed out of the NBA when the team yet again regresses and misses the playoffs. Jesus, Portland finally gets an All-Star who doesn't have a career-ending injury, and a very vocal few want to run the guy out of town because he'll be eligible for much more money next summer.
Because I'm done with you. I'd ignore you if I could.
A fourth option is you do a S&T if it makes sense - this is the only way LMA can get a 5 year max deal and leave.
It's too hard to predict right now because we have no idea what roster we will have going into training camp. I would be surprised if we did much worse, but you never know. Regardless, the west could be even more powerful if Melo and/or LeBron come to the Western Conference.
So let me get this straight, you attempted to make some kind of personal attack and then when I called you on it, you tried to act like it didn't happen? Now you're "done with me?"![]()
There's a third option. Let him become a FA, offer him more than Dallas can (because Portland can) and if he walks he walks. Use the cap space for someone else. What is Dallas going to give you that you want to pay MAX kind of money for?

Yes, I'm done with you. This 5 on 1 stuff gets tiresome, yet you're the only mod that does it. Are your feelers hurt?
As always, depends on injuries
Teams like the Grizzles and Mavericks may have been the 7th and 8th seed, but they played better ball than the Blazers the 2nd half of the season.
Watch GS get Love
Houston get Melo
What exactly are the Blazer going to do to keep up? Develop the bench? ...........
Aldridge will sit there and see all the teams in the west making moves and wonder what the Blazers will do
As RR7 pointed out yesterday, only 4 year contracts can be used in a S&T under the new CBA.
How about you clarify what you meant about a break up?
Dirk made $23m last year at age 35. Huh?
OK, so there's no point to doing a S&T anymore.
Apparently trade their own All-NBA big this summer or at the deadline. Good plan.![]()

Must have hit a sore spot. Sorry. A dickish move by me.
It wasn't his "max". He took a reset in 2010-11 to less than the max. Sure, 22M is no chump change, but it was less than the max. And 20M at 34 is about 6M less than LMA's contract will be at 34 if you gave him a 5yr max.
There is if the team you're trading with doesn't have cap space.
Not a sore spot. I wanted to clarify that you were, in fact, attempting to make a personal attack outside the realm of discussion of basketball. It seems that you are confirming that fact.
No apologies necessary. Good bye.
Spoken like a true blind fan who doesn't care about winning as long as his favorite player is on the team.
What the fuck do you have against the blind? Who are you to think you can say I don't care about winning? LaMarcus isn't my favorite player but if you want to throw false judgements about, I'm thinking it's just your meds. Having a tough day MM?
Between the two of us, I may not be the one having a tough day. Bringing up meds is kinda bullshit.
