McDyess Will Play Tonight

McDyess is expected to play his first game as a Knick tonight against the Detroit Pistons. McDyess, acquired from Denver in a 2002 draft-day trade, is recovering from three surgeries on his left knee in the last 19 months, most recently April 22.

McDyess, said coach Don Chaney, will play about six minutes in each half. Rather than having him start, the plan is to bring him in with about three minutes left in the third quarter.

McDyess said he made the decision last night. The Knicks expect to put rookie Michael Sweetney on the injury list to make room for McDyess
