Unless he falls on his face in ST, they should give Lindgren every chance to be the LH reliever in the pen.
I believe the 2012 first round draft choices (Judge, Jagielo, Clarkin) could be difference makers...and I'll go out on a limb and say I will be surprised if at least 2 of them don't become big contributors to the Yanks in a couple of years.
Judge - from the get go was described as a big (obviousy) athletic slugger type who moves well around the outfield. Sounds like a possible stud.
He is probably your basic "can't miss being able to hit alot HRs at the big level" player-
-- and Jagielo is a good LH hitting prospect who should do well hitting at Yankee Stadium.
A lefty swinging 3B....I like the way it sounds already. lol
Clarkin ? who knows? Pitchers are funny...but it's nice to have a highly regarded LH starter draftee in the fold.
Unless the Yanks screw them up - I think the Yanks can expect good things soon from a few prospects.
Also -Refsnyder and Pirela MUST be given every chance to fill holes for the Yanks.
These kids are in their early 20s...it's getting close to the time they break-in with the Yanks.
21,22,23 years old is the new 24-25-26 for prospects nowadays...imo.
Definitely hope they let the roster get younger as the dinosaur contracts expire. This team have so many holes, there aren't too many FA options to buy a contending roster...at least for 2015. This is a restructuring phase to get us beyond ARod, Tex and CC. I would be surprised if the unofficial target for return to glory isn't 2017 or 2018.
Yeah, I'd also like to see some of the young kids get a chance.
...Judge is an absolute monster. Hope he matures into the hitter I hope he can be.
...the RF and 2nd base jobs may very well go to a couple of the youngsters.
...and I'm liking the possible future of the pitching too.
...nah, I didn't forget him. Prado is not a lock at 2B...I read that he and Pirela and Refsnyder will battle for the 2B job during ST (in fact, I think it was mentioned in the article that I linked in the OP)...and Prado may be used in another spot or as a utility guy...and don't forget we also have a question mark at 3B and SS.

The Trade Chips
Everyone. Seriously. I don’t think the Yankees have any prospects worthy of being deemed untouchable. But, to use an old Brian Cashman phrase, some are more touchable than others. I mean, if the Marlins come calling and say they’re willing to deal Giancarlo Stanton as long as the package starts with Judge and Severino, how do the Yankees say no to that? They shouldn’t give anyone away but everyone should be available in the right situation. Cashman did a great job getting a lot for a little at the trade deadline this year and I’m sure that’s the approach he’ll take going forward.
Prado needs to be a full time player until he proves otherwise.
...he may be a full time time player, but again, he's not a lock for the 2B job.
