Meet LLOYD NEAL on Monday December 2 at 7 PM. This is the next monthly meeting of the Blazer Booster Club (in existence since 1976-77). Lloyd will speak, take questions, (probably) take pictures with you and (probably) sign autographs (one per person).

We meet at a room at the Moda Center and there's free parking available. For specific info, contact me at blazerboosterclub@gmail.com

FYI, I am the new Booster President. Although I just recently signed up for this forum, I've been reading it for several years.

Go Blazers!

One of my all time favorite Blazers. I remember Lloyd very well.

Go Blazers!

At least a couple of Board members have let me know that they will attend. The more the merrier. so hopefully some others will attend. Get to meet the man who is the first Blazer to have his uniform number retired.

GO BLAZERS!

I would love to be there but unfortunately I am in Maryland rooting for the Blazers. LLoyd Neal the all-time Swiss Army Knife of the Blazers. A very exciting person to watch play. He did so much off the ball.

That was a great event. Thanks for putting that on @LoveMyBlazers . Lloyd Neal was fun to meet.

Here are a few of my notes:
- Neal was drafted by the Blazers in the 3rd round.
- He didn't know where Portland was at the time.
- He grew up in a small town in Georgia without utilities.
- He didn't make a lot of money playing basketball. For the first 2 seasons he had to have a 2nd job in the off season.
- After he retired from basketball, he began working for the IRS, and he's lived in Portland ever since.
- Ramsay called him 'Ice'.
- He had hiccups for the entire week following the championship since he drank so much champagne. And champagne burns when its poured on you.
- Worst place to play - Boston. The parquet court was terrible.
- He's good friends to this day with LaRue Martin (drafted by Blazers in the 1st round the same year Neal was drafted).
- Neal has had 2 knees replaced and 1 hip.
- He thinks his style of play would do well today. He believes he had the fundamentals that a lot of today's players don't have because they rely on their physical skill. He set screens, ran the floor, position defense.....
- And he let us all know that he still to this day holds the single season Blazers record for most rebounds in a year.

I think you may have left out the greatest thing. Did he happen to autograph your card? That would have been awesome, and the story to tell for many years; about getting the autograph. Cool stuff there!

I was unable to make it. Spent the day and all of my limited energy trying to buy a car so the VA can install a lift on it so it can carry my electric wheel chair. I was wiped out. Gonna finalize the deal hopefully today or tomorrow.

He's probably 4rth or 5th on my list of all time greatest Blazers. I'm ranking him above Drexler. You guys don't realize how great he was.
Often played center at 6' 7", the same height as the famous Wes Unseld (Baltimore Bullets).

He was an awesome rebounder.

I'll be there! I'm looking forward to meeting Lloyd Neal.

Meeting Bob Gross at the Blazer Booster meeting last month was fantastic. These guys have inside stories that are fun to hear. Well worth the time.

Thanks for putting this together @LoveMyBlazers !
To this day Bobby Gross and Bill Schonely are good friends even going to the same church.

Lanny, I hope you can make it on Monday.
Sorry, my disability was acting up and I couldn't go anywhere that evening. Hated to miss seeing Neal. Will truly go down as one of the greatest Blazers of all time.
