Re: OT: Bad, Bad, Bad, Bad Boyz

Maybe they should change the team name from Wizards back to Bullets

Re: OT: Bad, Bad, Bad, Bad Boyz

The NBA CBA is probably the most player friendly set of bylaws in all of professional sports. There are conduct clauses, that allow a team to suspend a player without pay, but there is absolutely no way they can void his contract and take his money off the cap. Depending on how this thing shakes out legally, their best bet is to probably try and work out some kind of buyout with him, but they're still stuck with his caphold barring something completely unprecedented.

Look at Jamaal Tinsely and all of the trouble he got into with guns, and the Pacers were still stuck with his contract.

I think if a player is convicted of a felony the contract can be voided. Tinsley was never convicted of a felony.

Re: OT: Bad, Bad, Bad, Bad Boyz

Unintentional irony from Shaun Powell:

The Wizards are a toxic mix right now, and some GMs believe they'll be broken up by the trading deadline. Much of the discontent centers around Gilbert Arenas and his shooting.

Re: OT: Bad, Bad, Bad, Bad Boyz

That is fricking crazy. In the locker room? What like they couldn't wait until they were out partying in the hood after the game to throw down? :)

Yea since Gilbert is from "the hood"....Not all black guys "party in the hood"....jesus.

why do people reach for this stuff? YOU are the one that connected them being from the hood and being black.

maybe, just maaaaaybe, he was talking about them pulling guns on each other, something that, truthfully, happens in the hood more often than the suburbs.

For example: NateBishop lives in the suburbs....

Re: OT: Bad, Bad, Bad, Bad Boyz

I remember waiting to get into a Duck's BB game back in the day and seeing Jason Gardner and Gilbert Arenas both grab their nutsacks in full display pointed to a bunch of men, women, and children. Shows you the class of someone like Arenas.

Yea I'm sure that assumption would have been made if Mike Miller would have been involved in the situation...I'm not reaching for anything...It's pretty obvious that was a dumb statement whether they were both black or not. I'm aware people pulling guns on each other happens more outside of the suburbs....Both of these guys are millionaires so I can't imagine either of them venture to the projects...Ever.

lol if mike miller pulls a gun on someone, he will probably get some hood/thug jokes thrown his way. its the act imo, not the skin color, BUT i have no idea of his thoughts, i seem to have unintentionally hijacked your displeasure. my bad.

But right now, we're at the point of accusation, no charges have been filed (yet) and no jury has found him guilty (yet).

I can almost guarantee this gets plead down to a misdemeanor gun possession charge.

Re: OT: Bad, Bad, Bad, Bad Boyz

I can't think that any one of those players can continue to wear that uniform. That chemistry is dead.

Also, never point a firearm at anyone unless you're ready to shoot them. Chickenshit posturing can kill you.

Re: OT: Bad, Bad, Bad, Bad Boyz

Time for signs when the Wizards visit the Blazers on March 19th!

"I can dodge your bullet"
"Washington Bullets are Bad Boys"
"Blazers will plug your bullets"

Re: OT: Bad, Bad, Bad, Bad Boyz

They both should be banned from the league. This is insane.

I just thought what he said was really dumb

Re: OT: Gilbert Arenas pulls gun on teammate in locker room.

Yeah, it's been posted a few days ago.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Re: OT: Gilbert Arenas pulls gun on teammate in locker room.

Was it a real gun or an Airsoft gun?

Re: OT: Gilbert Arenas pulls gun on teammate in locker room.

How did this not break until several days later?

Re: OT: Gilbert Arenas pulls gun on teammate in locker room.

It's called a cover-up and "trying to keep it in house"...

Washington DC needs their own John Canzano, breaking these stories the second they happen!

They can have ours.

Sounds like it's a storm in a teacup:

From what I've gathered, Arenas, Crittenton and some teammates were indeed playing a card game on the flight back from Phoenix, and both Crittenton and Arenas were coming up on the losing end, but Arenas didn't owe $25,000, and the amount wasn't owed to Crittenton, but to JaVale McGee. Arenas bailed on the game unhappy with the rules, and Crittenton was left to pay the pot, much to his displeasure, so he was trying earnestly to get Arenas to pay his part. Tempers flared during this dispute and I'm told Crittenton wanted to fight Arenas for backing out of paying up. Arenas, meanwhile, said he would burn Crittenton's car, and Crittenton said he would shoot Arenas in his bad left knee.
That brings us to practice on Dec. 21 when Arenas placed four guns -- the ones he had brought into the locker room to store in his locked box, according to him to keep from his children-- on the chair of Crittenton with a note 'pick one' on top. Crittenton came into the locker room where Arenas was waiting and ready for a good laugh, but Crittenton wasn't as amused as Arenas continued joking around. A source says teammates told Crittenton not to take the taunts from Arenas so seriously, but the younger guard didn't appreciate being made fun of and chucked one of Arenas' guns across the locker room and said "I have a gun of my own." The situation was soon diffused

This sounds like Arenas. I remember when he really pissed off DeShawn Stevenson because of a bet they had about three pointers. Stevenson didn't think it was funny either (and it also involved Arenas wriggling out of paying, this time by distracting Stevenson when it looked like he might win).

My guess is Ernie Grunfeld is trying to make something of it to ditch Arenas's contract. Wonder if the shitstorm that hit the Blazers over Miles will come Grunfeld's way...

Yep.

I noticed SI is backing off some of the original claims. It is beginning to look like somebody played the media for fools.
