Merged: Cousins traded to N'Awlins (for some Cajun shrimp)

Good deal for NOP. Good move by Sac to cut the cord.

I think this was a good move for Sacramento. They obviously made the choice to not pay him max because of all his bullshit. So then it comes down to who wants to trade a bunch of assets for likely a half season rental. No way would he resign here so anyone wanting to trade CJ, or Crabbe and two firsts for a half season rental would not make a very good GM.

Edit: I'm a dumbass

I don't know how to feel about it, I think boogie is pretty toxic but hes so good. Weird weird night. Gonna be interesting to see if next year pels can get him to sign long term. Must be what they are banking on

its still a better return than we got for LaMarsha

Cousins was on record saying he was going to resign for this big pay day. There was no drama. The Kings got impatient on their rebuild.

He is under contract for 1.5 more seasons correct?

He has 1.5 years on his contract. He's not a FA until July 2018

lamarsha was going to break all our records and retire a blazer

Good trade for everyone involved.

Good for Sacramento - Boogie's not a leader, and would cost them a huge % of their salary cap for years to come.
Good for NOLA - If he and Davis can stay healthy, watch out.
Good for Boogie - he publicly stated he wanted to stay in a place that no one would want to stay, and got out of it. Should be in a much better situation now.
Good for Davis - he finally gets the help he thought he was getting long ago.

That was under the old contracts. DeMarcus would have been walking away from far more money than LaMarcus could ever dream of. Cousins was strangely loyal to the Kings over all his time there. No comparison.

This move should mean we don't make the playoffs and get a better pick for sure

Sacramento didn't get a whole lot for him. They must feel Hield is going to be the next Mitch Richmond for them. And who knows what that first is going to bring. The Blazers def had a better deal for them. If they didn't want to compromise the character of the team. That's fine, I get that. This GM needs to stay aggressive until the deadline and try to improve the team this year. I like Okafor even with the recent trade for Nurkic. They have the assets to make that deal. He has a nice future ahead.

Exactly. Its all in the eye of the beholder. People calling hield a bust are hilarious. Dude won multiple college poty awards and has only played over half a season i the nba.

Hield still is an unknown as he hasnt even been in the league one year. And has 3 cheap years left. We have no one as highly touted other than dame or cj.

People will generally pick the unknown (hield) with still major potential over the more known even if it has some potential too.

He is 23, and isnt exactly lighting the world on fire thus far. I think people just figured boogie would fetch a better prospect.
