Jailbirds.Jailicans for short.
To everyone who said we'd have to trade CJ to get DMC:![]()
My point being that traded stars don't fetch players of CJ's caliber. We got DMC? Awesome!
More seriously, yeah, the package they got bit, but it's actually not a package Portland could have matched. Which is a little pathetic. Portland didn't have sufficient expiring contracts or a cheap young player that Sacramento loved (unless they loved Vonleh, which they probably didn't but with the Kings you never know). Portland probably would have had to deal McCollum to get Cousins (though, more likely, they were among the teams that weren't getting their calls answered or weren't even bidding).

We still would. I get the impression that their crazy owner thinks that Buddy > CJ.To everyone who said we'd have to trade CJ to get DMC:![]()
Not a team bidding would be my guess. Olshey might have inquired a while back, but I'm sure that ship sailed. SAC was probably very greedy on the market with Cousins, and then teams went and made alternative moves, and now that the Kings feel their hand is forced they end up taking what they think is the best offer they can get before the Pelicans decide to make an alternative deal for Buddy. We got DMC? Awesome!

you are right. ny nightclubInteresting... I will have to take a closer look. I do know that DeMarcus is the one getting sued for it (but of course that could be partially because he has more money).
Damn, Grant isn't holding anything back! One of my favorite announcers in the league. In fact when I heard the Boogie news one of the first things I thought was "I wonder what the Kings announcers have to say about this".
Several reasons.
1. Don't think he nor Sac wanted to re-sign this offseason.
2. Too much of a head case to win anything at this point.
3. Sac is not done dealing. Vlade trying to mimic Ainge plan in Boston
Jailblazers = Whitsitt eraThe salary cap was in effect during the Whitsett era (cap started in 1984). He build a championship quality team. The refs stole it really.
He was only a laughingstock after the Kemp and Jermaine O'Neal trades.
Kings took the best deal. Malcontent, cancer, immature. Talented as hell, but no one wanted him.But I think the real beef is that there were better deals to be had. So regardless of if he couldn't re-sign, you gotta get more value out of him. Also, the orginazation shot itself in the foot multiple times saying they were going to re-sign him and all that. But to have Drummond offered and not take at least that... it's a headscratcher.
Sac may not be done dealing - but what do they have to deal?

And then there's these

I'm not disagreeing with you on who he is, more the organization than anything.
There were several teams in the running for at least a guy who had 1.5 years left. IMO, they could have waited.
But, this is sacremento. The only team who would turn down a deal for a center that is relatively close to Cousins. so if all is true, this was not the best deal - especially since the pick in '17 was not even unprotected.
If Neil had been in this same situation (Dame with 1.5 years left) and got a player back in a position we were already overstocked in, an expiring, and 2 picks that won't even be that great considering... it would be catastrophic to the organization.
Then again, at least we have CJ, whereas Sacramento literally has nothing else. But, if they take the pistons offer... they get something to work with it. That is why IMO they didn't take the best offer.

it's frickin' tongue in cheek.....my fault, I posted that headcase Cousins in New Orleans (city of a lot of crime) would become the next jailblazers and it WAS MEANT TO BE RIDICULOUS....!!!! I can't believe people want to dissect posts like that....Boogie made his own bad boy image...it's his brandI think people confuse someone being a headcase with being a criminal. Just because someone is an asshole doesn't mean they're going to break the law. I find that jump to be completely ridiculous.
See what he was traded for and get back to me.....he didn't get enough interest....Lakers wouldn't trade a player for him the Kings wanted....melo didn't want to go to Sac....Every journalist in the sport has written about the cancer that comes with Cousins....it's not a stretch to say he comes with some risk and baggage...personally, I'd have loved to trade for him in Portland...why? He loves Lillard and Lillard would keep him in line.who couldn't draw more interest
