I used to post more on the main board but I got so angry at times that I wanted to break shit. Now, I am just tired of the whole thing and won't even get mad now. The NBA just takes too much investment, unlike the NFL where you can change your whole team in a matter of a few years and be back in the game.

If Roy is damaged and Oden isn't getting better then the whole thing is never going to reach a tenth of what could have been. That makes me sad and sports shouldn't make you sad.

If they decide he doesn't need surgery, i would hope that the Blazers would bring in somebody besides the in house trainer, somebody who might have some ideas as to how to rehab towards maximum strength and explosiveness.

I'm just really wondering at what point do we get to point fingers at the training staff, because injury after injury after injury, many of them considered "lingering", can't possibly be a coincidence.

This is a recurring problem for Roy. At some point he will require surgery. How much longer can they put it off? Putting off Batum's shoulder surgery didn't pay off. Putting off Rudy's back problems didn't pay off.

Oh no, you're right. The fact that his knees have consistently had problems every season since we drafted him, or that he had knee problems in college, or that he's had how many knee surgeries on both knees? Noooo that's not a recurring problem, and with the way he's played this year, he definitely won't need surgery. Oh, and the team clearly is acting like they don't agree with me by sending him to a specialist in Los Angeles. Everything is just peachy keen.

I don't need a doctorate to recognize the writing on the wall. There have been some of us who have been saying for weeks now that Roy hasn't looked right. People called us crazy then, but no, you're right, my education isn't nearly good enough to figure this one out. He's talking about his explosiveness being gone, and his elevation... that's always a great sign.

No, I think he's only talking about his physical limitations; somewhere today i read he has called guys who have had similar problems and he is worried that he will never be back to what he was.

All that this means is that we were right when we thought that something was amiss with Roy over the last nine games. Bringing back Blake or Outlaw isn't going to give him back his explosiveness or his elevation.

To me, he's thinking this may be something permanent. There is a another quote where he hopes (like we hope) that it's not permanent.

He definitely doesn't sound like a man who has a lot of hope for the future. It also seems like this is something that's been going on for months, because I remember him saying that he had been working on changing his game over the summer. It would appear that Roy knew something was wrong and was trying to figure out an alternative.

Well, like I said, he's going to have to become a pure shooter. He's going to have to get much better as a catch-and-shoot player. He's going to have to move without the ball. Basically he's going to have to become Ray Allen.

Man.. I just don't know if he has that pure stroke to become mostly a jump-shooter. Ray Allen has had that throughout his career. What made Roy dangerous was his ability to penetrate and get a layup, go to the FT line or dish it off to someone. And Ray Allen was never good enough to be the No. 1 guy on a team anyway to lead a championship team, which is what we've depended on Brandon to be.

Well, if this truly is a permanent decline in athleticism, it's something that we should have seen coming. A guy can't charge into the paint with that kind of abandon and not expect to have consequences. I think Roy could develop a postup game like Jordan though. MJ never really had a pure stroke at the beginning of his career, and over time he developed a deadly turn-around jumper. He had to evolve his game to protect his body, and BRoy will have to do the same, either now or later.

I'm totally stunned. When will the hurting stop? Why is this franchise so cursed? What in the world have we done to deserve this? My heart goes out to Roy, of course, but this is just devastating for every Blazer fan.

If I were Roy and Oden, I would get my second opinion from the Phoenix Suns doctor.

I am not really sure why everyone is freaking out though? Roy's knees are horrible, and while he is an awesome player, he will have these issues his entire career. We just have to hope that career lasts into his 30's.
