OT: zBO must GO [again]!!!

...to Clipperland with Mardy Collins for Mobley and T.Thomas [everyone should welcome the "Hoop Family" back to the West Coast with open arms]!!!

Re: OT: zBO must GO [again]!!!

Has anybody made Dunleavy a "Will coach for food" sign yet?:pimp:

Re: OT: zBO must GO [again]!!!

Should be an 'interesting' group of personalities with Z-Bo, Baron and everyone's favorite, Ricky Davis. I feel sorry for Dunleavy... that is going to be some locker room to be in.

Re: OT: zBO must GO [again]!!!

And kind of funny how TNT ran an interview with D'Antoni on Inside the NBA, and John Thompson asked him of his group and he praised Crawford for being a potential 25 ppg scorer in this league, Zach's been working hard, and all this... and next day, they blow it all up.

Re: OT: zBO must GO [again]!!!

Yeah, D'Antoni specifically mentioned Crawford and Zbo as players that have been playing well in his sytem. Not any more Mike! Lol.

Re: OT: zBO must GO [again]!!!

Interesting, they blow it up to improve their chances at making a run for Lebron. But they do it by trading away the two guys that have been helping them win. Will Lebron really go to a shitty team in NY? No matter what the money is, I have a hard time thinking Lebron will go to another team so he can be a one man team like he is now.

Ah, but if they are bad enough, they may have a high draft pick to go along with the rest of the rubbish.

Gramps...

RE: Knicks trying to unload Zach.

On the surface that is a huge surprise given his stats. I have to think there's another reason for this trade. Maybe it's his baggage or maybe NY is trying to obtain some shorter contracts and didn't see Zach in their future.

Wow, 1 year 5 months. That's how long he stayed in NY.

it will be interesting to see what they do with lee now - try to get cheap young talent or picks for him now while they can, or wait and take a big chance that nobody makes him an offer they can't match.

Good point. Rubio to LeBron would be scarier than Rubio to Rudy...

What't the over/under on when Dunleavy finally loses it and tries to kill someone with his clipboard.

I say 3 weeks.

Also, isn't it a real kick in the groin to be traded for Tim Thomas. I am not Z-Bo's biggest fan but damn.

I think it's a good idea for NY to blow up their team... BUT I don't think you can build a championship team through free agency and cap room like they're trying to do..
I'm surprised they didn't get any draft picks from the Warriors or Clippers. If anything, while it's obvious they're going after LeBron.. they need to put some players in place to make NY more attractive. And they should learn from the San Antonio model and what we've done.. and hire good scouts and build through the draft and youngsters who can play.

Funny thing, they actually have someone that is pretty decent as a draft talent evaluation expert on the payroll. It's a shame they made him the GM and coach to kill their team before.

Re: OT: zBO must GO [again]!!!

they are gonna have to work pretty hard if they want to out-tank the thunder :ohno:

Ooh. Interesting observation. Did not think of it - but it points to the possible availability of Mr. Westbrook in the trade market, no?

I disagree NBA players love playing on the biggest stage possible and NY, Chicago and LA will always atract great players. Portland and SA have to have good talent before a FA will sign with them. Even last year with Oden, Roy and LMA Kidd still didn't want to play for Portland.

NY and Chicago certainly have that edge in attractiveness to the city, but the last few years, those teams have been mediocre at best.
There's been a lot of teams that have tried to clear cap room in the past, i.e. Denver when Kiki was there, Orlando when they went after TMac and Grant Hill, Chicago already when they found out they had a bunch of cap space but no one wanted to sign with them in the late 90's I think.
And those teams stunk it up.

NY is banking a lot on two years from now and getting LeBron, when I think New Jersey is at the head of that list with their new arena opening and LeBron's relationship with Jay-Z who's a minority owner of the Nets.
Detroit has also made a play to clear cap room.

Nowadays, I think you have to build teams through the draft. You look at us, San Antonio drafted Parker, Manu and Duncan... Utah drafted Deron.. New Orleans drafted Chris Paul ... Orlando with Dwight Howard. etc.

NY have the advantage that players love to play for D'antoni.

Do you think the Clippers will be better or worse after this trade and is this enough to get them into the play offs? ZBo and Baron is a pretty effective scoring duo... fortunately they'll let the opponent score pretty effectively as well so it may be a wash.

Meh, just a straight salary dump by the Knicks.

That organization is seriously mucked up. They bring in a high profile coach - who actually succeeds in improving the team - then cut his legs off. They are trying to pacify the fans with all the blather about LeBron in 2010.....but I have a sick feeling they really *mean* it! They don't understand the difference between a "hope" and a "plan."

When I heard about the trade, my first thought was that this is only half the deal - that they have an offer on the table for Camby or Kamen. :dunno:

i doubt it, since he can play either guard spot and they want durant at SF full time.

This isn't JUST about LeBron. New York freed up enough money to afford TWO max contracts in 2010. They can sign LeBron and Wade or Stoudamire or Bosh or Ming or Nowitzki or...

i heard the NJ arena is more or less delayed indefinitely due to the economic crisis.
