Rudy did get screwed. I thought he was going to embarrass himself, but he pulled two very nice dunks. He definite deserved better scores than the ones he received from the judges.

He didn't embarrass himself by taking a year to complete a dunk, obviously.

That wasn't embarrassing. But, yeah I guess if he made a dunk off of Pau Gasol's back on the 1st try he should have got a higher score. You are absolutely right....

Xenophobia would be a better word than racism in this conversation to be honest. People see racism and they automatically think skin color only and not cultures/nationality/etc. Xenophobia most people at least get the general idea (or they'll at least look it up).

Maybe trampoline was a bad word to use, but you know exactly what I mean. It's obviously easier to dunk if you jump from 3 feet above the floor.

nah its all good i didnt mean to come off too serious. yeah he didnt jump off the floor, but its not like he needed the help you know? so it was just all about being fun and creative. if he actually needed that help to reach the rim, then itd be a fair complaint.

Yes, actually he should.


Its a lot harder to jump off a person than it is a solid wooden floor, I think that's pretty basic knowledge, no? The person is not completely solid, you will not get nearly as good a vertical when jumping off a human body that's not lying on the ground (and even then, its still not as effective).

Well he has a valid point in that a lot of people (players and commentators included) have a pretty stereotypical view of European and Argentinian players as not really athletic, weak, soft, can't jump high, dunks aren't impressive, mostly jump shooters and floppers. I don't really think that can be denied.

It really is more xenophobic and shouldn't be a surprise.

It's not a matter of race.

At the very least it was a Dwight Howard v. Nate Robinson finals that the NBA wanted. A David v. Goliath type of match-up. Two dunk contest champions head-to-head. I'm sure if Nate was white he would still be in the finals.

The last good contest was 2004 with Smoove. I watch All-Star weekend for the 3 point shootout and skills. Dunk is lame with only 4 guys bring 6 atleast

I'm sorry, but I listened to LeBron the day before during the rookie contest, and now Kenny during the dunk contest, and there was definitely some hating going on. It has nothing to do with white or black, but it has a lot to do with Europe vs. America.

I don't think that's about race either. Russell Westbrook is one of the most athletic players in the NBA. He's definitely top 10.

Ever seen Russell in college at UCLA? He's a freak of nature. Rudy is very impressive, but in my opinion, Russell is a better athlete and probably a better showman, however, since he wasn't there, it's hard for my point to be proven.
